IUCEE SPEED Regional Student Forum 2015

Dronacharya College of Engineering, Gurgaon, in collaboration with Indo-US Collaboration for Engineering Education (IUCEE) and Student Platform for Engineering Education Development (SPEED) organized a three days workshop on “IUCEE SPEED Regional Student Forum 2015” from 21st – 23rd July 2015. It provides a common platform for global communication about engineering education where dignitaries like Mr. Rohith Kandakatla, Ms. Neha Jain, Mr. Anubhav Garg and Mr. Rajat Sharma, from IUCEE Student Chapter gave their valuable opinions.
IUCEE in collaboration with SPEED, had developed a platform for students to exploit their innovativeness by ingraining in them skills, knowledge and creative ideas. The objective is to create global engineers to tackle and resolve issues of national and international nature, to advance Engineering Education between students and other stakeholders, to build a support network and empower interested students to take action in improving their own educational environments. By facilitating student action in this manner, SPEED provides a necessary perspective to EE policymakers to promote an EE system that is productive, inclusive, and forward- thinking.
IUCEE Student Regional student forum 2015 is a global student organization to empower students to become a factor of change in Engineering Education by providing them with the skills, knowledge and resources necessary to become a global engineer and show them how they can think globally and act locally.
On First Day of the workshop, the dignitaries introduced about IUCEE action plans and informed about various IUCEE student benefits. Students gave verbal presentation on their innovative ideas that would help in nation building and help making them a part of change that the country needs for its sustainable and balanced development.
On the Second Day, a brainstorming Action Activity was conducted in which Students reframed the already existing success stories that would make them more feasible and efficient. After this, five minutes poster- making competition was held in which students showed their ideas and start-up plans that they could implement in future. Students made posters on various innovative topics such as Artificial Intelligence, Multimedia Technologies, Cloud Computing, Big Data etc. While presenting them, judges from IUCEE Student Chapter gave their valuable comments to the participants. Several other activities were also held during the workshop which included group discussion, network connectivity and debate on social issues.
On the Third Day, a formalized action plan was designed by the students. All the participants were divided in groups and prepared PowerPoint presentation. Then, the participants presented their ideas in front of H’ble Principal Prof. (Dr.) B.M.K. Prasad, Prof. Vishal Bharti, HOD CSE, Prof. Yashvardhan Soni, HOD IT, Prof. (Mrs.) Dimple Saproo HOD ECE and IUCEE Guests. In the closing ceremony students were awarded certificates by the Principal Prof. (Dr.) B.M.K Prasad.
The overall session of three days was very beneficial and motivational for the students. This would help students to broaden their network globally. Interested students will be invited to be a part of the global network. The best student action plan will be guided and facilitated by IUCEE and SPEED. This team would get an opportunity to present their work during ISF-2016.
