Webinar delivered in IUCEE
Ms. Monika Phulia (Assistant Prof.) from EEE Department, Dronacharya College of Engineering, Gurgaon delivered a webinar entitled “Change Detection Techniques in Remote Sensing (satellite) Images” on 1st July 2015 3:30 pm. The webinar was conducted by IUCEE (Indo - US Collaboration for Engineering Education). Main motive to deliver such type of webinar was to enhance the knowledge as well as to contribute to the engineering education in the society. The idea was fully supported in the view of Digital India Week.
Topic Delivered:
Change detection is the process of automatically detecting the changes in a set of two bi-temporal images of same geographical area taken at different times. The result of applying change detection is difference image, which is binary and represents the location of the changes. The basic principle in using satellite data for change detection is that changes in land cover should produce changes in radiance values and these changes in radiance should be greater than the radiance changes produced by other factors like differences in atmospheric conditions, sun angle and soil moisture. Change detection is done by first finding change using change detection algorithms and then performing classification to separate changed and unchanged areas. Change detection is categorized based on (i) algebra & (ii) transformation.
