Creating a Space Ecosystem: A New Era - Igniting Young Minds for Space Exploration

19 students from CSE – AIML, EEE, ECE and ECS Departments along with Dr. Ashima Sharma from Dronacharya College of Engineering, Gurugram attended the event titled "Creating a Space Ecosystem: A New Era - Igniting Young Minds for Space Exploration" at the AICTE Headquarters Auditorium in New Delhi on 20th August 2024. The event provided an excellent platform for fostering interest in space exploration among the youth.
The program began with registration, followed by an inaugural session. The day was filled with motivational talks by various distinguished delegates, whose words served as an inspiration to the young attendees to consider careers in space exploration. The event commemorated the remarkable achievements of the Chandrayaan mission and sought to inspire the youth to contribute to India's advancements in space exploration.
The event gathered key stakeholders from various sectors, including Vice Chancellors, Heads of Institutions, Founders of leading space startups, educators, faculty, and students from different institutes across the country. The diverse gathering created a vibrant atmosphere conducive to networking and idea exchange.
The Chief Guest, Dr. S. Somanath, Chairman, ISRO and Secretary of the Department of Space (DoS), shared his invaluable experiences and provided insights into the future prospects of space exploration. His address was both enlightening and motivating, leaving a lasting impression on all attendees. Other esteemed guests included the Ambassador of the European Union, JS (NEST) from the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA), the Chairman of the National Quantum Mission, and the Director of Vikram Sarabhai Space Centre (VSSC).
Throughout the day, attendees witnessed insightful sessions delivered by prominent figures, including Vice Chancellors, Founders of leading space startups, space scientists, engineers, and educational leaders. The sessions were designed to ignite curiosity and passion for space sciences among the young minds. The interactive nature of the sessions further engaged the students, providing them with a unique opportunity to ask questions and deepen their understanding of space exploration.
A significant highlight of the event was the launch of the "Model Curriculum in Space Technology" and the unveiling of the book titled "Introduction to Finite Element Analysis" Authored by Dr. S. Somanath and Dr. S. Unnikrishnan, Director of VSSC. The comprehensive textbook covered the basic concepts and applications of finite element analysis in a clear and accessible manner. The event concluded with a vote of thanks, followed by the national anthem.
Benefits/Outcome: the event provided a platform for students to gain exposure to the exciting field of space exploration. The event ignited student’s interest in space sciences and reinforcing the importance of India's role in global space exploration.
