Dronacharya College of Engineering, Gurugram, warmly welcomed the 1st Year B.Tech students of Batch 2024-2028 with an enlightening Orientation Programme. The two-day Orientation Program, conducted on 16th - 17th August, 2024 was thoughtfully planned to acquaint students with the Institute’s and respective department’s Vision, Mission, core values, and the significant academic journey that lies ahead.
The faculty coordinators of the program were Prof. Ashima Mehta, Prof. Ritu Soryan, Prof. Dimple Saproo, and Prof. Neha Chauhan. The two-day Orientation Program featured distinguished guests who provided invaluable insights to the students. On 16th August, the college had the honour of hosting Samunder Singh (Senior IT Solutions Lead with Stryker.) On the 17th of August, the event continued with Akshay Bhargava, the esteemed Chief Guest, who leads the Office of Education Business Unit at Tata Consultancy Services (TCS). He was joined by the Guest of Honor, Sandeep Rajain (Solutions Architect with Hewlett Packard Enterprise), and Jagjeet Gandhi (Mobile Engineer with Expedia Group.) Their presence and insights enriched the program, offered students a glimpse into the professional world they are preparing to enter.
The day started with a solemn assembly of students at the venue, featuring a traditional tilak ceremony to mark an auspicious beginning. The official inauguration followed, setting a positive tone for the rest of the program. During the ceremony, Prof. Dr. Isha Malhotra (Principal, DCE), warmly welcomed Prof. Dr. B.M.K. Prasad (Director, DCE), by presenting him with Green Compliments. On the 16th and 17th August, the Guests of Honor—Mr. Samunder Singh, Mr. Sandeep Rajain, and Mr. Jagjeet Gandhi—along with the Chief Guest, Mr. Akshay Bhargava, were presented with Green Compliments by Prof. Dr. Isha Malhotra and Prof. Dr. B.M.K. Prasad.
On 16th August, Mr. Samunder Singh, delivered an engaging keynote speech. His address not only inspired students but also offered valuable insights into the professional path. The ceremony also featured the Panchdeep Lighting, symbolizing enlightenment, followed by Ma Sarasvati Vandana, a hymn invoking the blessings of the Goddess of wisdom and learning.
Prof. Dr. B.M.K. Prasad, guided students toward excellence and integrity. He also shared his invaluable insights. As a guiding force, his words provided a crucial compass for students as they embark on their new academic journey. Further, Prof. (Dr.) Isha Malhotra (Principal, DCE) delivered a speech outlining her vision for the institution and offered guidance to help students thrive in their academic pursuits. Her insights provided a clear path for students to follow and motivate them to strive for excellence in their journey ahead.
On 17th August, the Guests of Honour, Mr. Sandeep Rajain and Mr. Jagjeet Gandhi, delivered impactful speeches that resonated with the students. Mr. Rajain, with his vast experience as a Solutions Architect, shared valuable industry insights, while Mr. Gandhi, a Mobile Engineer, spoke about the importance of innovation and adaptability in today’s fast-evolving tech landscape. Mr. Akshay Bhargava inspired the students by sharing personal experiences and insights. His words offered valuable perspectives that deepened the students' understanding and motivated them to strive for new heights in their academic journey.
The event featured a vibrant freestyle dance performance and an energetic bhangra dance, both presented by enthusiastic students. The performances showcased the students' talents and added a lively spirit to the program. Additionally, a fun activity was organized to foster connections among students, promoting a sense of camaraderie and engagement. The program featured a diverse array of student projects, each highlighting their innovation, creativity, and dedication.
Prof. Pooja Sharma, Head of the Applied Science and Humanities Department, provided students with an informative session, introducing them to the department and its various courses. She offered valuable guidance on how to navigate their academic journey, emphasizing the importance of building a strong foundation in Applied Sciences. Before lunch, students were presented with souvenirs as a token of appreciation for their participation.
Various departments conducted a range of engaging activities, including fun games and quizzes. During these sessions, students were also introduced to advanced tools like the Firebird V, the FESTO pneumatic system, and a 3D printer. The demonstrations provided hands-on insights into cutting-edge technologies, offered students a glimpse into the innovative resources available within their departments.
The two-day program concluded with a festive atmosphere, as students gathered to enjoy upbeat music, release helium balloons into the sky, and commemorate the occasion with group photos. The joyous finale created lasting memories and strengthened the bond among students as they prepared to embark on their academic journey together.
