National Conference On “Development & Advancement in Smart Grid for Solar Renewable Energy”
(NC-DASGSRE-16) under the sponsorship of Department of Science and Technology (DST),
Government of India
16 April 2016
Department of Electronics & Communication Engineering, Dronacharya College of Engineering, Gurgaon organized aOne Day National Conference on “DEVELOPMENT & ADVANCEMENT IN SMART GRID FOR SOLAR RENEWABLE ENERGY” (NC-DASGSRE-16) on 16 April 2016, under the sponsorship of Department of Science and Technology (DST), Government of India, New Delhi to discuss the current scenario of the advancements and development trends in smart grid for solar renewable energy.
The Objective of the conference was to provide a common platform to the Academia, Industry delegates, Research Scholars for sharing of information related to the technological developments in smart solar renewable energy. The presentations and discussions during the conference were related to the following topics :
1. Smart Distribution System
2. Data Analytics for Grid Modernization
3. Smart Grid Cyber - Physical Security
4. Strategic Plan - Rising to the Challenges
A total of 40 Technical Papers were received from Researchers & Academicians in above said area out of which 24 accepted papers were included in the conference Proceedings.
The conference was inaugurated by Dr. A. R. Shukla, Former Advisor, MNRE, Govt. of India, He addressed the delegates on the theme of conference and explained that smart grid has strong potential to advance and encourage renewable energy deployment. The term “smart grid” represents a set of technologies, including advanced meters, sensors and energy storage that are crucial for the integration of more renewable and low carbon electricity into the electric power grid. The renewable energy technologies like wind and solar have huge potential to reduce both greenhouse gas emissions and other negative environmental impacts from electricity generation. Integrating these technologies into the electric power grid poses ongoing technological and institutional challenges.
Prof. (Dr.) B.M.K. Prasad, Principal DCE addressed the delegates and threw light on smart grid & its utilities. His address highlighted the various technological developments in the field of Renewable Energy and Smart Grid during the recent past years and also briefed on the new technologies which are developing at a rapid rate. He covered areas like Grids, Concept of Smart Grids, and Importance of Renewable Energy Resources and limitations of Fossil Fuels.
Technical Session – I
Dr. A. R. Shukla chaired first technical session. In his expert talk he highlighted the importance of solar renewable energy, role of smart grid in solar renewable energy. He shared that India has a strong history of using renewable energy technologies for the last 30 years. Renewable energy sectors got specific attention in planning process in India since the Sixth Five Year Plan with specific allocated budget. In 7th plan, the focus was on development and dissemination of renewable energy systems, whereas from the 8th plan and onwards the emphasis is on developing integrated strategies to make renewable energy system techno commercially viable.
After the invited talk, 12 papers were presented in the first technical session.
Technical Session – II
The technical session II started with oral paper presentation which was chaired by Prof. (Dr.) Manoj Sharma, Department of E.C.E, D.C.E Gurgaon.
Closing Session
The certificates were distributed to the delegates during the closing of the session. The session ended with inspirational talk ofProf. (Dr.) B.M.K Prasad, Patron of the conference on research methodology and importance of research. The conferences ended with Vote of thanks by Prof. (Dr.) Manoj Sharma, Convener of the conference.
