Summer School on "Robotics & Embedded System Design"
20th June - 20th July 2017
IEEE Student Chapter, Dronacharya College of Engineering, Gurgaon organized summer school on “Robotics & Embedded System Design” from 20th June - 20th July 2017. Mr. Krishanu Kundu, (Assistant Professor, ECE), was the trainer of the Summer School.
The objective of the summer school was to spread education in Embedded System & Robotics.
During the initial days of summer school Mr. Krishanu Kundu (Assistant Professor) briefed participants the mission, vision and future of Robotics as well as Embedded Systems. He added the idea is to incorporate embedded system and robotics into engineering education with the objective of engaging students through exciting hands-on application of engineering principles. The technical session started with the basic features and aspects of ARDUINO Board.
In the due process complete configuration of the ARDUINO Board & Fire Bird V robot was thoroughly discussed by Mr. Kundu. Later the session moved on with hands on training on the following topics using Fire Bird V Robot : LED Blinking, Buzzer Interfacing, Motion control - Forward, Back, Stop, Left, Right, Soft left and Soft right and LCD interfacing.
Students did hands on training on following topics: ADC interfacing - IR sensor and Sharp Range sensor, Serial port interfacing and black Line & white line follower robot by using Fire Bird V Robot.
Throughout the tenure of summer school participants were motivated to use the embedded skill for building a professional career in the field of Robotics.
As a part of summer school one online quiz was also conducted to evaluate students’ knowledge.
The closing ceremony of month long summer school leads to prize distribution to top performers in the online quiz. Top performers got their token of appreciation from Prof (Dr.) B.M.K Prasad (Principal, Dronacharya College of Engineering, Gurgaon) & Mr. Chandra Shekhar singh (HOD, ECE).
The summer school was helpful as participants came to know various issues related to interfacing of various sensors with ATmega2560 microcontroller and facts that interfacing creates a significant role in field of Robotics. It was really interactive and truly knowledgeable session with fruitful gain of knowledge.
