Regional Facilitation Workshop

Entrepreneurship Development Institute of India, Ahmedabad organized a DST-NIMAT Project-Facilitation workshop on 16th November, 2016 at TBI-KIET, Ghaziabad. Ms. Ashu Khurana, Assistant Professor, CSE Department of Dronacharya College of Engineering, Gurgaon attended the workshop.
The objective of the project was to provide consultancy services in the areas of institutional and infrastructural developments and building synergy between industry and academia. It act as an industry – academia – government bridge.
The session began with a welcome address to Dr. Usha Dixit, Scientist –D, NSTEDB, DST, Govt. of India, Shri S. B. Sareen, Project Director, DST- NIMAT, EDII Ahmedabad, Shri Prakash Solanki, Faculty & National Co-ordinator, EDII Ahmedabad, and Shri Satya Ranjan Acharya, Sr. Faculty, EDII Ahmedabad by Shri Satendra Kumar, General Manager, TBI-KIET.
Shri Satya said various institutions are working well but still there is a need to strengthen them in program implementation and documentation. The next session was conducted by Shri Satendra Kumar, described the Technology Business Incubator - KIET.
Shri S. B. Sareen, gave an overview of DST-NIMAT Project. The next session was conducted by Dr. Usha Dixit. She discussed the expectation of DST from implementing agency of DST-NIMAT Project. Next, Shri Prakash Solanki, briefly explained the DST-NIMAT Project documentation and implementation of various different training interventions like Entrepreneurship Awareness Camp (EAC), Technology based Entrepreneurship Development Program (TEDP), Faculty Development Program (FDP) and Women Entrepreneurship Development Program (WEDP).
Entrepreneurship Awareness Camp is targeted at last year students of professional qualifications like Engineering, Pharmacy, Information Technology, Management etc. The training is conducted for 2-3 days for 75 candidates to convince them to take up entrepreneurship / self-employment as best possible career option. The resource persons for the program involve successful entrepreneurs, bankers and government officials, entrepreneurship trainers and industrial consultants.
Technology based Entrepreneurship Development Program is proposed to conduct training program by having collaboration with academic institute / medium scale industry with provision for practical and demonstration training in technology entrepreneurship of food / fruit processing sector.
Faculty Development Program (FDP) especially emphasizes on preparation of proposals to set up Innovation and Entrepreneurship Development Cells (IEDCs) under the sponsorship of DST, Govt. of India. Prakash Solanki also explained the mechanisms for implementing the program and activities.
Last session was conducted by Shri Satya Ranjan Acharya on PG Program in Entrepreneurship. He said objective of the accelerated, rigorous and application – oriented program are to develop skills in successfully initiating, expanding and diversifying a business enterprise in new, up-coming areas.
The program was beneficial for the participants as all the information relevant to documentation and implementation of DST-NIMAT Project was given. The program also provided information to take the financials benefits from the government scheme for the startups.
