Centre for Innovation and Entrepreneurship (Cie) - Inauguration of Livelihood Business Incubator (Lbi)

Five students, Himanshu (18068), Vertika (18181), Shweta (18162), Lakshay (18086), Nikhil Sukhija (18113) of CSE Department of Dronacharya College of Engineering, Gurgaon attended the session of inauguration of Livelihood Business Incubator organized on 15th November 2016 at Jamia Millia Islamia, Delhi.
The main purpose of the program was to learn product manufacturing processes coupled with technology development, business development etc. LBI provide the opportunity to the unemployed youth to acquire skill for enterprise building and also incubate them to become successful business owners.
Honorable Union Minister, MSME, GOI- Shri Kalraj Mishra, inaugurated the scheme and appreciated the efforts made by the Centre for Innovation & Entrepreneurship (CIE) Jamia Millia Islamia in setting up the LBI.
During the session, Prof Talat Ahmad, Vice Chancellor, JMI addressed challenges to eradicate unemployment among the youth, particularly the poor and the minorities. LBI Program was set up to train and skill prospective entrepreneurs learn product manufacturing processes, technology development, business development, marketing and other skills. He stated LBI offered a short-term 6 weeks program on ‘Entrepreneurship and Skill Development’ in the areas including PET Bottle Making and R.O. Plant, Bakery Products, Spice Grinding & Packing, Tailoring & Machine Embroidery, Computer Hardware & Networking, Gem or Jewellery-making etc. Entrepreneurship development program (EDP) enables the participants to setup their own business units.
Later, Prof. Mini S. Thomas, Hon. Director, CIE said they were planning to run the courses in three modes regular mode for the youngsters in the neighborhood during the day time, evening mode for Jamia students and a week - end batch for working professionals. He concluded the LBI is an example of the social commitment and responsibility of Jamia Millia Islamia, to create entrepreneurs and make the boys and girls in the neighborhood realize their dreams in tune with the government practices.
The session brought up various ideas regarding Entrepreneurship coupled with innovation.
