40th International Conference on Biomaterials and Healthcare@ Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Ropar

Dronacharya College of Engineering’s faculty and students represented the institution with pride at the 40th International Conference on Biomaterials and Healthcare, held at IIT Ropar from December 4 -7, 2025. A delegation of 14 first-year B. Tech students along with faculty members Dr. Nimisha Yadav and Dr. Deepak Kumar presented their research papers at this esteemed international forum, reflecting DCE’s emphasis on research excellence, interdisciplinary learning, and global academic engagement.
The conference convened leading experts and innovators from biomaterials, healthcare engineering, biotechnology, and AI-driven medical technologies. DCE students contributed diverse and impactful research addressing real-world healthcare challenges and emerging technological advancements.
Under the supervision of Prof. Pooja Sharma, Rashmi presented her work on AI-based early detection of lung cancer using chest X-rays and deep learning. Several students guided by Dr. Nimisha Yadav showcased forward-thinking research: Vanshit Chauhan on advancements in medical biotechnology for precision medicine; Rohan Yadav on the impact of AI, ML, and engineering in modern healthcare; Anant Kumar Satsangi on AI-enabled shared health booths for inclusive healthcare access; Mayank Yadav on AI-driven progress in 3D bioprinting; and Anamika Prajapati and Anugya Agrawal on brainwave-based emotion detection using EEG and AI. Khushali Shandilya introduced an IoT-powered Smart Ayurvedic and Naturopathic Health Monitoring System combining traditional wellness with modern technology.
Under the guidance of Prof. Dixita Barua, notable oral presentations included Sneha Kumari, who presented an IoT-based Patient Health Monitoring Digital Twin. Sushant Raj, supervised by Dr. Deepak Kumar and Prof. Dixita Barua, highlighted sustainability in computational health sciences through his work on Green AI in biomechanics. Aarushi Bisht proposed an integrated AI model for disease diagnosis and predictive supply chain optimization in smart healthcare systems. Chaitanya Kumar Giri introduced an AI-IoT framework for sustainable pharmaceutical operations, while Himani Sharma addressed critical gaps and proposed improvements in AI-enhanced digital twin technology for future healthcare systems.
In the poster category, Aryan Raval, under the mentorship of Prof. Dixita Barua, presented a comprehensive review on engineering multifunctional bioinks for load-bearing medical implants, highlighting recent innovations, challenges, and future directions.
The active participation and achievements of DCE’s students and faculty at this international conference mark a significant milestone for the institution. Their contributions spanned AI, IoT, biotechnology, digital healthcare systems, bioprinting, medical imaging, and sustainable pharmaceutical engineering—demonstrating DCE's commitment to nurturing innovation and strengthening its research ecosystem. The mentorship of Prof. Pooja Sharma, Dr. Deepak Kumar, Dr. Nimisha Yadav, and Prof. Dixita Barua was instrumental in guiding students toward impactful and high-quality research outcomes.
