Workshop on Drone Dynamics
8th February 2025
IEEE Student Chapter, Dronacharya College of Engineering, Gurugram conducted an enlightening workshop entitled “Drone Dynamics” on 8th February 2025. The speakers of the workshop were Sushanth Jha (ECE Dept.), Nikhil Yadhav (ECE Dept.) and Ariyan Pal (EEE Dept.) who showcased their talent on Drones under the mentorship of Dr. R. Dheivanai (Faculty, DCE).
The workshop on "Drone Dynamics" provided a comprehensive overview of drone technology, applications, and future prospects. The workshop was designed to educate participants about the principles of drone flight, technical insights, and real-world applications. The session concluded with a live demonstration of drone flying on the college ground, giving students a hands-on experience with drone operation.
The workshop covered the following key areas such as Introduction to drones and their evolution, types and applications of drones, technical insights into drone components and flight dynamics, safety and regulatory guidelines for drone operations, live drone flying demonstration, future trends in drone technology followed by interactive Q&A session.
The presentation explained the principles of lift, thrust, yaw, pitch, and roll, which are fundamental to drone stability and maneuverability. It also covered the role of stabilization technologies such as gyroscopes and AI-based autonomous control systems. Students discussed emerging trends, including AI integration, autonomous operations, improved battery life, and new applications in delivery services, public safety, and disaster management.
After the theoretical session, the students conducted a live drone flying demonstration at the college ground. They showcased:
- Basic drone manoeuvres (take-off, hovering, and landing)
- Pre-programmed flight patterns (square flight, spins, flips)
- Emergency landing mechanisms
- The impact of environmental factors on drone stability
Benefits/Outcome: Participants learnt about enhanced understanding of drone components and flight principles, awareness of industry applications and career opportunities in drone technology, practical exposure to drone flying and safety measures, interest in further learning about drone programming and AI integration.
