Building Confidence and Leadership - Personality Development Workshop
1st, 4th and 8th September 2025
Dronacharya College of Engineering, Gurugram conducted a three-day Personality Development Workshop on 1st, 4th, and 8th September 2025, facilitated by Captain Manjula Katoch, an Ex-Army Officer and Soft Skills Trainer certified by the Scottish Qualification Authority. The workshop was thoughtfully designed to help first-year B.Tech students adapt confidently to college life while developing essential interpersonal and professional competencies. Through interactive and experiential activities, Captain Katoch motivated students to recognize their strengths, work on self-improvement, and build confidence, collaboration, and communication skills.
One of the most impactful segments of the workshop focused on leadership development. Captain Katoch emphasized that leadership goes beyond positions and titles — it involves inspiring, motivating, and guiding others with empathy, clarity, and purpose. She highlighted that leadership can emerge naturally or through assigned roles, and true leaders maintain balance among individual, team, and task responsibilities.
The workshop also highlighted the significance of non-verbal communication, demonstrating how posture, gestures, and facial expressions shape perceptions and influence interactions. Through practical exercises, students learned to use body language effectively as a key communication tool. Another crucial aspect discussed was time management and productivity, where Captain Katoch shared techniques to enhance efficiency and achieve goals. She introduced the idea of “acuity” — sharpness of thought and quick adaptability — as a critical element for personal and professional growth.
Students actively participated in discussions, reflective tasks, and hands-on exercises throughout the sessions. The workshop concluded with overwhelming positive feedback, as students expressed how it boosted their self-confidence, leadership mindset, and organizational skills. Overall, it served as an enriching experience that nurtured self-awareness, discipline, and readiness for future academic and professional endeavors.
