Cleanliness Drive
18th September 2025
NSS Units of Dronacharya College of Engineering, Gurugram, conducted Cleanliness Drive on 18th September 2025 as a part of the Swachh Bharat Abhiyan. The initiative aimed to promote awareness about hygiene, waste management, and environmental sustainability among students and the local community. The event witnessed enthusiastic participation from NSS volunteers, faculty members, and students, who came together to spread the message of collective responsibility for maintaining cleanliness and environmental care.
The drive began with an address by the Dr. Anupam Dalal (NSS Programme Officer), who emphasized the importance of cleanliness in daily life and highlighted Mahatma Gandhi’s vision of a clean and self-reliant India. Volunteers were divided into groups and assigned specific areas in and around the college campus, including nearby roads and community spaces in Farrukhnagar. They collected plastic waste, dry and wet garbage, and ensured proper disposal in designated bins.
In addition to cleaning activities, participants engaged in awareness campaigns, encouraging residents and shopkeepers to avoid littering and adopt eco-friendly practices. Placards bearing slogans like “Clean India, Green India” and “Swachhta Hi Seva Hai” inspired people to take proactive steps towards sustainable living.
Faculty coordinators appreciated the volunteers’ dedication and teamwork, acknowledging their role in setting a positive example for society. The drive concluded with a group pledge to continue the cleanliness mission throughout the year.
The initiative not only reinforced environmental awareness but also instilled a sense of pride and civic responsibility among all participants, reflecting the NSS spirit of “Not Me But You.”
