DRONATHON (30 Hours Hackathon)
26th – 27th September 2025
RDC, Dronacharya College of Engineering, Gurugram organized a 30-hour Internal Hackathon on 26th and 27th September 2025 as a preparatory initiative for the Smart India Hackathon (SIH) 2025. The event provided a dynamic platform for students to showcase innovation, creativity, and technical expertise across various domains. A total of 34 teams, comprising 102 students along with Faculty Coordinators- Prof. (Dr.) Isha Malhotra (Principal), Prof. Neha Chauhan (RDC), Dr. Ashima Mehta (HOD CSE), Dr. Ritu Pahwa (HOD AIML), Dr. Megha Goel (HOD CSIT/IOT/ECS), Dr. Dimple Saproo (HOD ECE/EEE), Prof. Pooja Sharma (HOD Applied), and all departmental RDC coordinators, participated enthusiastically, demonstrating their passion for problem-solving and collaboration.
The hackathon was designed to nurture innovation, foster teamwork, and equip students with the skills necessary to represent the institution at the national-level SIH 2025. It encouraged participants to translate their ideas into tangible prototypes within a limited timeframe, reflecting both technical acumen and creative thinking.
The participants tackled over 34 problem statements covering a wide range of areas including education, healthcare, agriculture, robotics, automation, sustainability, and digital governance. Multidisciplinary teams collaborated to ideate, design, and develop innovative solutions, integrating knowledge from multiple fields to create functional prototypes.
The evaluation was conducted by a panel of eminent industry experts and academicians, providing constructive feedback and guidance to ensure that students’ solutions aligned with real-world expectations. Mentorship sessions during the event helped students refine their ideas, enhancing both technical and problem-solving skills.
The hackathon witnessed continuous brainstorming, coding, and prototype development. Teams demonstrated creativity, technical skills, and leadership while solving complex challenges. The event served as a preparatory and mentoring platform, helping identify the most promising teams for SIH 2025. Participants gained valuable hands-on experience, industry exposure, and collaborative skills.
The Internal Hackathon was a resounding success, fostering innovation, teamwork, and entrepreneurial thinking among students. It not only showcased the talent and dedication of the participants but also strengthened the institution’s readiness for the upcoming Smart India Hackathon 2025, instilling confidence and motivation among students to excel at the national level.
