SEVEN-DAY NSS SPECIAL CAMP ON SWACHHA BHARAT SWASTH BHARAT

SWACHH BHARAT ABHIYAAN is an initiative by the Honourable Prime Minister of India, Mr. Narendra Modi. Swachh Bharat, Swasth Bharat is an initiative to create awareness among the general public of the necessity for cleanliness and healthy living.The NSS Unit of Dronacharya College of Engineering, Gurgaon from 25th to 31st March 2015 carried out an awareness drive at the adopted village Patali, Haryana.
Swachh Bharat, Swasth Bharat, launched on 2nd October 2014 at the birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi, involved various sections of people in the society to create awareness among the general public for the necessity of a clean society. The idea is to launch a clean India movement by inculcating the idea of "4 Cs" (clean mind, clean body, clean environment, and clean society) in students.
In the inaugurating ceremony, Hon’ble Principal Prof. (Dr.) B. M. K. Prasad stated that the college would encourage the volunteers by providing all possible help in the service. He insisted the college fraternity to take up social problems as a challenge and added that the college has the maximum number of volunteers in the field of social and national services.
Cleanliness has got a direct relationship with health conditions, the students explained this link to the villagers so that more and more people get aware, connect themselves with the campaign and adopt a healthy lifestyle. The volunteers described that due to lack of cleanliness water-borne diseases can spread out. The NSS team went to Raghunath Vidya Mandir, Patali, and interacted with the pupils on cleanliness and healthy living. They carried out First Aid courses so that in situations where first aid could help save a life by learning lifesaving skills. A painting competition was organized by the NSS team based on the SWACHHA BHARAT SWASTH BHARAT theme. Children of different age group enthusiastically participated in the event. The participants were awarded with certificates by the College.
The NSS volunteers carried out various awareness programs with the slum dwellers of the locality and introduced them to various hygiene options which they can easily follow and lead a healthy life.
The camp concluded with a vote of thanks by Mrs. Rita Yadav, the Program Officer (NSS unit). She expressed her heart-felt gratitude to the volunteers for their active participation.
