On 6th July 2024, Chitkara University, Baddi, Himachal Pradesh hosted a workshopin association with DELNET focusing on the transformation of libraries, the evolving role of LIS professionals, and strategies to enhance user satisfaction. Ms. Savita Devi, Librarian, Dronacharya College of Engineering, Gurgaon participated in the workshop.
The event commenced with a keynote address by Dr. Madhu Chitkara Pro-VC Chitkara University. Many speakers shared their knowledgeable insights about various topics. Mr. Jayanna Belavadi (CEO and Founder of DrillBit), elucidated on leveraging DrillBit technology to combat plagiarism in academic environments, stressing the pivotal role of technology in upholding academic integrity.
Following Mr. Belavadi's insightful talk, Mr. Khushal Goswami introduced DELPLUS, a revolutionary free library automation software developed by DELNET. His presentation highlighted DELPLUS's capabilities in streamlining library operations and enhancing user experience through digital innovations. Participants gained a comprehensive understanding of how such tools can optimize resource management and improve overall library efficiency.
The workshop further delved into the crucial soft skills required for LIS professionals, as emphasized by Mr. Vinay Khurana. His session underscored effective communication, interpersonal skills, and leadership qualities essential for effective library management and fostering positive user interactions. This segment aimed to equip attendees with practical skills to navigate the dynamic challenges within the library profession.
Dr. Sangeeta Kaul (Director, DELNET) concluded the academic sessions by elucidating strategies to enhance user satisfaction in libraries. Her presentation focused on user-centric service design, personalized engagement techniques, and leveraging technology to cater to diverse user needs effectively. Dr. Kaul's insights provided a roadmap for participants to align library services more closely with user expectations, ensuring a more enriching experience for library patrons.
The workshop culminated in a valedictory function where certificates of participation were distributed to attendees.
