Launch of Ideas 4LiFE - Lifestyle for Environment (Initiative at IIT Delhi)

Dr. Vaishali Dixit, Dr. Kunal Karan, and 50 NSS volunteers from Dronacharya College of Engineering, Gurgaon attended the launch of Ideas 4LiFE – Lifestyle for Environment, an initiative at the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT), Delhi by Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change (MoEFCC) on 29th July, 2024.
The event was graced by the presence of Shri Bhupender Yadav (Union Minister for Environment, Forest and Climate Change), and Shri Kirti Vardhan Singh (Minister of State for Environment, Forest and Climate Change.) The launch event was attended by senior dignitaries from the government and academic institutions, including Smt. Leena Nandan (Secretary (EF&CC), Prof. Mamidala Jagadesh Kumar (Chairman of the University Grants Commission), Prof. T G Sitharam (Chairman of the All India Council for Technical Education), and Prof Rangan Benerjee (Director of IIT Delhi). The event also saw vibrant participation from over 1000 students, research scholars, and academic faculty from various educational institutions across the country.
During the launch, Shri Yadav emphasized the importance of Mission LiFE (Lifestyle for Environment) and called upon students, research scholars, faculty, and innovators to come up with innovative ideas that will contribute to the vision of Prime Minister Narendra Modi for mindful and deliberate utilization of resources. The Ideas4LiFE portal (Ideas4Life.nic.in) was launched to allow participants to submit their ideas and innovations online. The winning ideas under each of the seven themes of Mission LiFE will be recognized and awarded with attractive prizes for individuals as well as institutions. The seven themes of Mission LiFE covered by the Ideas4LiFE Ideathon are: Save Water, Save Energy, Reduce Waste, Reduce E-Waste, Say No to Single-Use Plastics, Adopt Sustainable Food Systems and Adopt Healthy Lifestyles.
The Ideas4LiFE initiative aims to encourage and motivate students, faculty, and research scholars to contribute their innovative ideas to the global movement dedicated to environmental sustainability. The event marked a significant step towards promoting environment-friendly lifestyles and engaging the academic community in finding solutions to pressing environmental challenges.
Students got the opportunity to receive insights into innovative thinking, entrepreneurship, and the application of technology for social impact. They learned about the importance of ideation, problem-solving, and the process of turning ideas into viable business solutions. The initiative also emphasized collaboration, creativity, and the significance of addressing real-world challenges through innovative approaches.
