Alumni Connect Program - Technical Session

Department of Training and Placement and CSE – IOT, Dronacharya College of Engineering, Gurugram organized an “Alumni Connect Program” on 30th July 2024 for CSE (IOT and Cybersecurity using Block Chain) IV and VI semester students. The program was held with a focus on the emerging fields of IoT (Internet of Things) and Cybersecurity. Ankur Ahuja (Senior Vice President Billtrust, USA) was the keynote speaker of the technical session.
The event aimed to provide a platform for alumni to share their experiences and insights with current students, bridging the gap between academic learning and industry practices. The program also served as an opportunity to strengthen the bond between the alumni and their alma mater.
The event commenced with a welcome address by Ms Renu Dua (T&P Head, DCE) highlighting the significance of alumni engagement in shaping the academic and professional trajectories of current students.
Ankur Ahuja shared his extensive experience in cybersecurity, including managing breach management, security advisory, and regulatory compliance for large financial and payment organizations. With over a decade at PwC and leadership roles in major financial institutions like RBI, Citibank, PayTM, and JioMoney, Mr. Ankur provided students with insights into the complexities of cybersecurity in the fintech industry. He also shared his journey as a 2xCISO and board advisor for fintech companies such as Payworld and UAE Exchange. He also discussed the latest advancements in IoT, emphasizing its transformative impact on industries such as healthcare, manufacturing, and smart cities. They also discussed the importance of interdisciplinary knowledge in leveraging IoT technologies effectively.
A panel discussion featuring the keynote speakers and faculty members provided an interactive platform for students to ask questions and seek guidance on academic and career-related queries. The discussion revolved around the skills required for thriving in IoT and cybersecurity domains, the role of certifications, and emerging trends in these fields. The informal networking session allowed students to interact directly with the alumni, gaining personalized advice and learning about real-world applications of their academic knowledge. The program received overwhelming positive feedback from students, who found the sessions insightful and motivating. Students appreciated the practical perspectives shared by the alumni, which complemented their theoretical understanding. Students also expressed interest in participating in similar events in the future.
Benefit/Outcome: Students got extensive expertise in cybersecurity.
