NSS Units, Dronacharya College of Engineering, Gurugram organized “Social Responsibility Awareness Programme (SRAP)” in the adopted villages: Sayyad Mohammadpur, Khurmpur, Jhund Sarai, Babra Bakipur and Kharkari from 26th – 30th January, 2024. Faculties and Students went to different villages to make people aware about Social Responsibility. SRAP is a flagship programme under Unnat Bharat Abhiyan (UBA)
The Social Responsibility Awareness Programme (SRAP) was a vital initiative undertaken by Gram Sabhas across India. The program aimed to:
- Raise awareness: Villagers were informed about various social issues like sanitation, health, education, and environmental conservation through street plays, lectures, and interactive workshops.
- Empower through knowledge: Workshops and training programs conducted by experts equipped villagers with the necessary skills and knowledge to address social challenges effectively.
- Nurture a sense of ownership: Community service projects like tree planting drives, cleanliness campaigns, and waste management initiatives fostered a sense of collective responsibility and encouraged active participation in community development.
IIT Delhi's Role in Strengthening SRAP:
The Indian Institute of Technology Delhi (IIT Delhi) plays a significant role in enhancing the effectiveness of SRAP by:
- Providing technical expertise: IIT Delhi faculty and students offer technical guidance and innovative solutions to address specific challenges faced by villages.
- Financial support: IIT Delhi contributes financially to support various SRAP activities, ensuring wider reach and sustainability.
- Knowledge sharing: Collaborative workshops and training programs facilitate knowledge exchange between IIT Delhi experts and villagers, bridging the gap between academic knowledge and practical application.
The SRAP has demonstrably yielded positive outcomes in villages. Villagers exhibited a heightened understanding of social issues and their potential solutions. Active involvement in community service projects fostered a sense of ownership and collective responsibility. SRAP initiatives like sanitation drives and health awareness campaigns contribute to better hygiene and overall well-being in villages.
Students of DCE played a crucial role in strengthening SRAP. They integrated technology solutions like mobile apps and digital platforms which enhanced communication, outreach, and knowledge sharing. They collaborated with local stakeholders and equipped villagers with skills and resources for income generation and livelihood development.
The awareness programme ensured long-term sustainability and community empowerment for a brighter future for rural India. Villagers equipped with knowledge and skills become agents of change, driving sustainable development in their communities.
