Outreach Program - Bhabha Atomic Research Centre (BARC)

Institution’s Innovation Council (IIC), Dronacharya College of Engineering, Gurugram in association with “Bhabha Atomic Research Centre (BARC)” organized “Outreach Program” on 25th January 2024 for B.Tech students.
Two officers from BARC visited the college, during which they interacted with and addressed the Engineering/Science students, especially those in the final year, on the prospects of making a career with the DAE. They briefed about the One-year Orientation Course for Engineering Graduates and Science Postgraduates (OCES) which is a Training Programme run by the Bhabha Atomic Research Centre Training Schools (BARC TSs) at Mumbai, Kalpakkam and Hyderabad.
The visit at the campus aimed at Screening of candidates for Selection Interview followed by selection Interview of screened in candidates for final selection and to apprise the students about the work being carried out in DAE in the frontline areas of Research and Development and inform them about the career prospects in DAE.
The training program aimed to:
- Train and subsequently absorb deserving and motivated candidates, with a Bachelor’s degree in different Engineering disciplines (Mechanical, Chemical, Metallurgical, Civil, Electrical, Electronics, Computer Science, Instrumentation and Nuclear engineering) to pursue a career in frontline areas of Nuclear, Accelerator and Material Science and Technology in various units of the Department of Atomic Energy (DAE).
- Train and subsequently absorb deserving and motivated candidates, with a Postgraduate degree in different Science disciplines (Physics, Chemistry, Geology and Biosciences), to pursue a career in frontline areas of Basic science and Technology in various units of the Department of Atomic Energy (DAE).
Benefit/Outcome: Interactions with BARC officials provided valuable information about career opportunities and research prospects in India's premier research organization.
