Prof. (Dr.) BMK Prasad (Principal, DCE, Gurugram) along with Dr. Ashima Mehta welcomed the NASSCOM officials: Ms. Priyanka Sharma (Program manager, NASSCOM Foundation) and Ms. Arundhati Banerjee (Senior Executive, NASSCOM Foundation) by presenting a bouquet. Ms. Priyanka Sharma initiated the speech and explained about Social App Hub (A CSR Initiative of Vodafone India Limited.) It is an attempt by Vodafone Idea Foundation and NASSCOM Foundation to help ‘connect for a purpose.’ It is a huge repository of Social Good Apps. She said there are over 1.3 million apps available which have caused over 50 billion downloads, but only a small percentage of the apps available caters to social good and most of the citizens are not aware of such platforms. She uttered the need of spreading awareness amongst the youths about such platforms and encouraged the students to make use of social platforms to the fullest.
She said it was India's first crowdsourcing platform aimed at curating, strengthening & promoting social sector related mobile solutions from critical sectors of health, education, governance, agriculture, disability and safety. The platform also offers a plethora of knowledge through its case studies; articles & interviews to foster technology enabled social innovation in the development sector. Many NGO’s are benefited from the unique platform.
In the end, Dr. Ashima Mehta thanked the NASSCOM officials for enlightening the students about availability of Social Apps.
