Martyr's Day Celebration
23rd March 2023
Shaheed Diwas or Martyrs Day is celebrated on several dates in India to remember the ones who sacrificed their lives for the country. Martyrs Day is observed on 23rd March to honor the martyrdom of Bhagat Singh, Shivram Rajguru and Sukhdev Thapar who were hanged to death by the Britishers. With heart full of gratitude and honor Dronacharya College of Engineering, Gurugram saluted the brave martyrs.
Dr. Anupam Dalal (NSS Coordinator) throwed light and remembered the sacrifices of the brave Indian Fighters. She illuminated the students about the trio of these revolutionary nationalists who wanted to fight against colonial rule through a revolution of workers and peasants. With this intent they formed Hindustan Socialist Republican Association (HSRA) in 1928 in Delhi. Their aim was not to kill, but to “make the deaf hear” to remind the British government of their barbarous exploitation.
Bhagat Singh, Shivram Rajguru and Sukhdev Thapar were hanged to death by Britishers on charges of assassinating British officer John Saunders. Bhagat Singh was executed at the age of 23 but his spirit and revolutionary ideas inspired every Indian during the freedom movement.
