World Heart Day
29th September 2026
NSS Cell of Dronacharya College of Engineering (DCE), Gurugram, celebrated World Heart Day on 29th September 2026 by organizing a heart health awareness workshop to highlight the importance of cardiovascular well-being and preventive healthcare. The programme aimed to encourage students, faculty members, and NSS volunteers to adopt healthier lifestyle practices and become more conscious of the factors affecting heart health.
During the session, Mr. Ishant, NSS Programme Officer and Professor, discussed common risk factors associated with cardiovascular diseases, including unhealthy eating habits, physical inactivity, smoking, excessive stress, high blood pressure, and uncontrolled blood sugar levels. He emphasized the importance of following a balanced diet, engaging in regular physical activity, maintaining a healthy body weight, limiting salt and unhealthy fats, avoiding tobacco, and undergoing routine medical check-ups.
Special attention was given to recognizing the warning signs of a heart attack, such as chest discomfort, breathlessness, cold sweating, and pain or discomfort in the arms, back, neck, or jaw. Participants were advised to seek immediate medical assistance if such symptoms occurred. The discussion also highlighted the role of adequate sleep, stress management, and timely medical intervention in reducing cardiovascular risks.
Active participation by NSS volunteers, students, and faculty members made the workshop an informative initiative for promoting health consciousness across the campus. Participants gained practical knowledge about preventive measures and were encouraged to share heart health awareness messages with their families and communities.
Through this initiative, the NSS Cell reinforced its commitment to promoting preventive healthcare, healthy living, and social responsibility. The workshop encouraged the campus community to make informed lifestyle choices and contribute towards building a healthier society through awareness and collective action.
