Session on “Career Opportunities, Selection Process & Life in the Indian Army”

Department of Electronics and Communication Engineering, Dronacharya College of Engineering, Gurugram, organized an inspiring expert session on “Career Opportunities, Selection Process & Life in the Indian Army” on 10th September 2026 for 1st Year ECE and 3rd Year students. The session featured two accomplished DCE alumni, Nitin Jhakar (EEE) and Abhimanyu Arya (ECE), who have successfully cleared the SSC (Tech) Entry and are embarking on their professional journeys with the Indian Army.
Sharing their first-hand experiences, the alumni introduced students to the diverse career opportunities available in the Armed Forces for engineering graduates. They explained the SSC (Tech) Entry, eligibility criteria, selection stages, preparation strategies, and key aspects that candidates should consider while preparing for a career in the Indian Army.
A major highlight of the session was the speakers’ discussion on the realities of life in the Indian Army. They spoke about discipline, leadership, teamwork, responsibility, adaptability, professional growth, and the commitment involved in serving the nation. Their personal journeys offered students a realistic perspective on both the challenges and rewards associated with a career in the Armed Forces.
Drawing from their own transition from engineering students at DCE to successful candidates for the Indian Army, Nitin Jhakar and Abhimanyu Arya encouraged students to broaden their career horizons beyond conventional engineering roles. Their experiences demonstrated how technical education, determination, disciplined preparation, and a strong sense of purpose can open pathways to prestigious and meaningful careers.
