Expert Talk on Materials Science and Engineering
10th September 2026
Department of Electronics and Communication Engineering, Dronacharya College of Engineering, Gurugram,
organized an enriching Expert Talk on Materials Science and Engineering on
10th September 2026 at 11:00 AM under the guidance of Dr. Monika Rani, HoD, ECE/ECS.
The session aimed to broaden students’ understanding of advanced materials, their applications, and their growing
significance in modern engineering, research, and emerging technologies.
Dr. Isha Malhotra, Principal, Dronacharya College of Engineering, Gurugram, warmly welcomed
the resource person, Dr. Ashutosh Sharma, Associate Professor, Department of Physics, Amity Institute
of Applied Sciences, Amity University Jharkhand, Ranchi. Her address highlighted the importance of
expert interactions in connecting academic learning with contemporary research and technological developments.
Sharing his expertise in Materials Science and Engineering, Dr. Sharma introduced students
to the evolving landscape of advanced materials and their contribution to technological innovation.
He discussed the significance of material characterization, research and development, advanced materials,
and their emerging applications across diverse engineering and technology domains.
A key focus of the session understood how the properties, structure, and behaviour of materials influence
the development of innovative solutions. Dr. Sharma connected fundamental concepts with real-world applications,
enabling students to appreciate the interdisciplinary nature of materials research and its relevance to areas
such as electronics, energy, healthcare, and modern manufacturing.
Encouraging students to look beyond conventional classroom learning, Dr. Sharma emphasized the importance
of developing a research-oriented mindset. He motivated students to strengthen their
fundamentals, cultivate curiosity, explore interdisciplinary subjects, and actively engage with emerging
areas of science and engineering.
The interactive question-and-answer session further enriched the programme, with students
enthusiastically raising queries related to materials research, characterization techniques, applications,
and career opportunities. The engaging interaction provided valuable first-hand insights from an experienced
academic and researcher, while encouraging research awareness, interdisciplinary thinking, and a deeper
interest in exploring innovative pathways in engineering and scientific research.
