TERI YUVA Meet 2016
The Energy and Resources Institute (TERI) organized the YUVA Meet (Youth Unite for Voluntary Action) by bringing together young people from various parts of country. Yuva Meet is being organized since 2009, this Meet was eighth in the series. Yuva Meet 2016 was two days event organized on (29th – 30th) January 2016 at India International Centre, New Delhi with the theme :- Developing Skills and Social Entrepreneurship: Vision to Action for a Sustainable Future. 5 Students from CSE department Dhruv(17049), Nidhi(17092), Nishant Kumar (17096), Praveen(16119), Nitin (16107)represented, Dronacharya College of Engineering, Gurgaon in the meet.
Around 250 students participants who came from PAN India participated in this event. Many social entrepreneurs like Mr. Asif Khan Delhvi startup (Delhi Karwan) and Mr. Yogesh startup (Delhi Street Arts) to name few, were invited to share their experiences. YUVA Meet 2016, conducts a series of State Level Youth Seminars under the theme 'Entrepreneurship & Skilling. A Springboard for Sustainable Development' was also organized across 7 states of the country, namely Assam (Guwahati), Jharkhand (Ranchi), Rajasthan (Jaipur), Madhya Pradesh (Indore), Himachal Pradesh (Shimla), Telanagana (Hyderabad), Haryana (Ambala).
An expert session was organized on “Rights, Values and Ethics : A limiting factor for building enterprise” acting as a guiding force behind Developing Skills and Social Entrepreneurship. The session highlighted the importance of dealing with the rising ethical challenges that the social sector is facing so that entrepreneurs are cautious while working in grey areas.
The session was followed by panel discussion on diverse issues related to the theme of the meet. Participants got a chance to interact with experts, practitioners, government officials, civil society and educators working in respective field.
A Youth Panel was also held to provide a platform for young participants to voice their opinions on the issues related to skill development & youth participation. A group of selected participants (National / International) were given chance to be part of the panel. Group activities, presentations and simulation exercises based on environmental and sustainability concerns were also organized for the participants.
A competition “Start-up Challenge” was conducted in which participants were divided into teams and each team was assigned different topic for presentation. Participating team had to present ideas on Start - Up and draft B - Plan on given topic.
Our participants Nidhi(17092) and Dhruv (17049) declared winner were rewarded with Gold and Silver medal for obtaining 1st and 2nd position respectively along with appreciation certificate.
By attending YUVA Meet 2016, participants got opportunities to enhance their leadership potential and establish network with national and international participants.
