ALL INDIA SCIENCE AND ENGINEERING STUDENTS PROJECT CONTEST

KPIT Technologies Ltd hosted All India Science & Engineering Students Contest “KPIT SPARKLE 2016” in association with College of Engineering, Pune on 29th & 30th January 2016. KPIT SPARKLE 2016 is Annual National design and Development innovation contest for Engineering and Science Student. This Competition with the theme of “Smart Solutions for Energy and Transportation” Which received around 1,700 innovative ideas from over 10,000 students Pan India. Out of this 54 best teams made to the grand finale of KPIT Sparkle 2016 and top shortlisted presented innovative and sustainable solutions through scale models and working prototypes.
Mrs Sanghamitra V.Arora (project guide) along with five students namely Anmol Goyal, Ashish Sharma, Himanshu Kataria, Himanshu Lamba and Ankush Verma of Electronics & Communication Engineering Department fromDronacharya College of Engineering, Gurgaon were selected in 54 best teams to showcase their idea with Project titled :Intelligent Real time Traffic Routing in the event.
KPIT Technologies is a global technology company specializing in IT consulting and product engineering the aim of this joint venture was to foster a culture of innovation and critical thinking among engineering and science students across colleges in India. Sparkle 2016 in the contest, student had to decided and choose problem and find the solution for chosen problem themselves. The solution should reflect the innovative style from Technology point of view, along with safer, greener and cost effective from consumers angle. The finalists were evaluated for novelty of their ideas, completeness of prototype, fulfilment of society's expectations / problem statement and technical knowledge at a grand exhibition held at College of Engineering, pune . Some of the projects featured ideas on Green Energy, Alternate Fuels & Materials Autonomous Vehicles and Intelligent Traffic Management.
Ravi Pandit, Co-founder, Chairman & Group CEO, KPIT inaugurated the contest and said there is a huge opportunity for innovation as world seeks answers to achieve sustainability in the growing industrial and urbanized ecosystem. He further added the groundbreaking scientific ideas that we received show that given an opportunity, today's youth can not only identify critical problems but also come up with cleaner, safer and smarter solutions. Through KPIT Sparkle 2016 we continue endeavor to foster scientific thinking and nurture the problem solving ability of the bright, young minds of this country."
Prof. Devang Khakhar, Director, IIT Bombay was the chief guest at the awards ceremony.
The projects were reviewed and evaluated by a jury comprising of eminent judges, consisting of scientists, industrialists and academicians including Dr. R A Mashelkar, Head, Innovation Council, KPIT; Shri Vinit Goenka, Member IT Task Force at Ministries of Shipping, Road Transport & Highways, Government of India; Air Marshal Shri Bhushan Gokhale, Consultant to Principal Scientific Advisor, Govt. of India; Shri Satish Ogale, Chief Scientist, CSIR-NCL; Dr. Ashish Lele, Polymer Science and Engineering Division, NCL (National Chemical Laboratory); Ms. Rashmi Urdhwareshe, Director of ARAI, Prof. C.S. Kumar, IIT Kharagpur; Mr. Nachiket Gole, Industrial Designer and Dr. B. B. Ahuja, Director of COEP.
The team from Indian Institute of Technology (IIT), Kharagpur won the Gold award of INR 5 Lakhs for the i-Bike project. They had developed an autonomous bicycle with a dual mode of locomotion for last - mile transportation in an advanced urban bicycle - sharing system. Seven other Teams from different colleges (Pan India ) won the silver medal along with award of Rs.1 Lakh each.
