Seven Day NSS Annual Camp

    The NSS unit  of Dronacharya College of Engineering,  Gurgaon organized a seven day NSS Annual camp from 22nd - 28th February 2018 on the theme Cashless  Training and Digital India Awareness.
 The  objective of the camp was to make the people aware about cashless economy/transaction in digital India.
 The NSS Volunteers of  the college particularly worked  in  adopted village “Khentawas” for  eradication of illiteracy, cashless training and digital India awareness,  watershed management and wasteland development, agricultural operations,  health, nutrition, hygiene, sanitation, mother and child care, family life  education, gender justice, development of rural cooperatives, savings drives,  construction of rural roads, campaign against social evils etc.
 On the First Day During the  inauguration ceremony, Prof (Dr.) B.M.K.  Prasad (Principal, DCE Gurgaon) addressed the gathering and  motivated the students to adopt the different methods of cashless transaction  in their life and also motivated the students to encourage other individuals to  adopt the different methods of cashless transaction. He also encouraged the  students to do something for the community and society. 
After which NSS  volunteers performed NSS song, the social issue of eve teasing was enacted by a  team of NSS volunteers in the form of a skit presentation, Speech by NSS  volunteer on contribution of Youth in Nation Building.
 On the  Second Day, the NSS Volunteers were given First Aid Training by Mr. Dharamveer at the college campus.  He explained them various fractures and how to tie a bandage to an injured  person, various disaster management techniques, information of CPR, safety  measures regarding snake bites, to save a drowning person and various  techniques in order to save a fainted person’s life.
 On the Third  Day, the volunteers visited the Om Shanti Retreat Centre  of Brahmakumari’s (ORC) at Bhorakalan,Gurgaon. The volunteers attended a  lecture on 7 billion acts of goodness by Ms. Sunaina. The lecture was very  inspiring and a peace of mind for the volunteers. During the session she  explained how the act of goodness can change everyone’s life. The students were  also made aware of the fact, how introspection and meditation can change their  mindset towards society and themselves. It was all based on various acts of  goodness like sharing, uplifting, caring, helping etc. The volunteers visited  the whole campus including the art gallery, pyramid structured meditation room,  garden, dining hall, solar system etc.
 On the  Fourth Day of the camp, the NSS volunteers visited the slum  area. The slum children were taught cleanliness and good values. The volunteers  also motivated the slum children to work to earn their living and distributed  clothes, books, stationary items and sweets to the needy children. The NSS  volunteers encouraged the children to showcase their talent in respective  fields of their interest which motivated the other children around them.  Further a lecture on cleanliness and hygiene by the NSS volunteers was followed  by the National Anthem.
  On the Fifth Day of the camp, the NSS volunteers organised a rally. The motive of the rally was to make people aware  of the Digital and Cashless India. The rally also covered various social issues  like women empowerment, female foeticide etc. The volunteers portrayed these  issues using posters made by them. The volunteers actively interacted with the  shopkeepers during the rally. The volunteers also surveyed the various shops  about cashless services which these shops used in transaction processes. DCE,  Gurgaon. NSS officers Mr. Ashok Kumar and Dr. Jyoti Anand accompanied the  volunteers in the surveying process and rally.
  On the Sixth Day the volunteers organised CashlessTrainingand Digital India Awareness training  for college bus drivers, conductors and villagers regarding cashless payment.  In the beginning of the workshop they were shown a video of  NSS’s Moto. They were also taught how to use  mobile applications like BHIM app and Paytm for online transaction.
 On the Seventh Day, Closing Ceremony of seven day NSS special camp was  held. The chief guest of the function was Prof.  (Dr.) Sri Krishan Yadav, Dean Academics Dronacharya College of Engineering. On  the occasion, the chief guest said such kind of activities would be beneficial  for society. He said the camp had been a good exposure for the students. He congratulated  the NSS volunteers for the successful completion of the camp. The briefing of the NSS seven day camp activities was  presented by NSS volunteers. After this, there was a skit performed by NSS volunteers  on importance of education for youth. The motive of the skit was to show the  importance of education in everyone’s life. A folk dance was performed by the  female NSS volunteers. 
 The ceremony ended with a vote of thanks by Dr. Jyoti Anand.
 Seven Day NSS camp was a remarkable step towards social welfare.
