Dronacharya College of Engineering, Gurugram has become the Climate Tinkering Centre (CTC) and participated in the Mega World Record Event held at Indira Gandhi Indoor Stadium, New Delhi on 22nd April, 2023. 20 students of DCE along with Prof. Neha Verma attended the event.

The college invited three organisations to visit the campus and participate in the event virtually. The three institutes were Gurugram University, MD Senior Secondary School, Mankrola and Divine Dale International School, Sherpur and distributed climate clocks.
The Energy Swaraj Foundation, in collaboration with various organizations, organized the world’s largest Global Climate Clock Assembly and Display Event to promote a mass movement led by awaked citizens to address climate change.
The Chief Guest of the occasion was Dr. Jitendra Singh, Minister of State (Independent Charge) for the Ministry of Science and Technology and Minister of State (Independent Charge) Ministry of Earth Sciences and Minister of State for Prime Minister’s Office; Personnel, Public Grievances, and Pensions; Department of Atomic Energy and Department of Space. The Guests of Honor were Prof. (Dr.) T.G. Sitharam (Chairman, All India Council for Technical Education), Dr. Chintan Vaisnav (Mission Director, Niti Aayog Atal Innovation Mission) and Prof. Chetan S. Solanki (Professor at Indian Institute of Technology Bombay and Founder Energy Swaraj Foundation.)
The world is currently facing erratic weather patterns and frequent climate-related disasters as a result of human-induced climate change. The cascading effects of climate change can have catastrophic consequences, and time is running out to keep global warming within a reversible limit. The ‘climate clock’ is a mechanism to drive home this point of urgency for addressing the pressing issue of climate change,” says Prof. Chetan S Solanki (Prof. IIT Bombay.) Under its G20 presidency, India has implemented various initiatives, including Mission LiFE, to increase awareness and promote climate-friendly behavior. India also plays a crucial role in representing the voices of developing and least-developed countries in climate-related debates.
Prof. Hansraj (Registrar, DCE) welcomed all the invited organizations for assembling the climate clock. Prof. Pooja Sharma, Prof. Monika Thakur, Prof. Pooja Ahlawat, and Mrs. Asha Balara successfully conducted the event and students of the invited schools attended the national event online and assembled the climate clock.
It was amazing to see the different organization coming together to pose the most basic, yet a complex question of the current times – ARE we taking enough actions. The event created awareness amongst the participants that every month lot of carbon is emitted in the atmosphere, which is equivalent to the carbon dioxide (CO2) emitted per capita per month.
