Leveraging Python and Looker Studio for Smarter Data Exploration and Visualization
7th April 2023
CSI Student Chapter and Institution's Innovation Council (IIC), Ministry of Education (MoE), Dronacharya College of Engineering, Gurugram organized “Dronathon 2023” from 6th - 8th April 2023. Under Dronathon- 2023, workshop on “Leveraging Python and Looker Studio for Smarter Data Exploration and Visualization” was organized on 7th April 2023 in association with Idam House of Brands (Bella Vita Organic). Trainers of the workshop were Dr. Ritu Pahwa (HoD AIML) and Mr. Ankit Verma (Data Analyst with Idam House of Brands).
In the workshop, powerful synergy of Python and Looker Studio were integrated, to explore and visualize data. In an era where data-driven decision-making is paramount, mastering the art of data exploration and visualization is essential. The contents covered during workshop were given below:
EDA techniques: Discussed some common EDA techniques, such as calculating summary statistics, visualizing distributions and correlations, and creating scatter plots. Students were shown examples of how to use Python libraries like Pandas, NumPy, Matplotlib, and Seaborn to perform these tasks.
Visualization in Looker Studio: Students were explained, how Looker Studio can be used to visualize and explore data in a more interactive and intuitive way. Next trainers demonstrated how to export Python visualizations into Looker Studio and customize the look and feel of the visualizations using Looker's visualization editor.
Creating dashboards and reports: Trainers explained how to use Looker's and explained the functionality to create dashboards and reports based on the insights gained from EDA. Later there was a discussion on best practices for creating effective dashboards and reports, such as using clear and concise labels, selecting appropriate chart types, and using colour strategically.
In the ends there was the quiz session Trainers encouraged attendees to explore these tools further and apply them to their own data analysis projects.
