Workshop on "Skill's required in today's market condition using communication to advance in Career"

Institution's Innovation Council (IIC), Ministry of Education (MoE), Dronacharya College of Engineering, Gurugram organized “Dronathon 2023” from 6^th - 8^th April 2023. Under Dronathon- 2023 workshop on “Skill’s required in today’s market condition using communication to advance in Career” was organized on 6^th April 2023. Prof. Neha Chauhan was the coordinator of the workshop. Mr. Rohan Chauhan (Sales Officer in Mindpurpose Leadership, Certified communication & Public Speaking Trainer) was the keynote speaker of the workshop.

The workshop aimed to bridge the gap between technical knowledge and effective communication, recognizing the increasing importance of communication skills in a highly competitive job market.

The session began with an introduction to the workshop's objectives and the importance of communication skills in the contemporary job market. Participants were engaged in discussions on the role of effective communication in their professional development. Session during the workshop were:

Verbal Communication

The session focused on enhancing verbal communication skills. It included topics like public speaking, effective presentation techniques, and the importance of clear and concise verbal communication. Interactive activities and practice presentations allowed students to apply their learning.

Written Communication

The third session delved into written communication skills, with a focus on crafting professional emails, reports, and documents. Participants learned  the significance of grammar, tone, and style in written communication and practiced drafting effective emails and reports. 

Non-Verbal Communication

Non-verbal communication, such as body language, gestures, and facial expressions, was the focal point of this session. Students gained insight into how to use non-verbal cues to convey confidence and credibility in their interactions.

Interpersonal Skills

Building on the foundation of effective communication, the session covered essential interpersonal skills, such as active listening, empathy, and conflict resolution. These skills were presented as vital tools for maintaining healthy workplace relationships.

Communication in the Digital Age

In today's digital landscape, online communication has become pivotal. The session explored email etiquette, video conferencing skills, and the use of various digital platforms for professional networking and collaboration.

Building a Personal Brand

The workshop concluded with a discussion on personal branding and how effective communication contributes to one's professional image. Participants were encouraged to create a plan for their personal brand development.

The students appreciated the practical, hands-on approach of the workshop and highlighted the value of interactive activities and group discussions.

The workshop on enhancing communication skills for mechanical students was a success, with students leaving with a deeper understanding of the significance of effective communication in today's competitive job market. The knowledge and skills gained will undoubtedly empower them to advance in their careers.
