One Week Program on International Day against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking

The International Day against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking or World Drug Day, is marked on 26th June every year to strengthen action and cooperation in achieving a world free of drug abuse. This year’s campaign was to raise awareness about the importance of treating people who consume drugs with respect and empathy; providing evidence-based, voluntary services for all; offering alternatives to punishment; prioritizing prevention; and leading with compassion. The campaign also aimed to combat stigma and discrimination against people who uses drugs by promoting language and attitudes that are respectful and non-judgmental.
On this occasion Dronacharya College of Engineering, Gurugram conducted a poster making competition on 26th June, 2023. 48 students participated in the above competition. Winner of the competition was Ms. Anjali Aswal (V Sem, ECE, Roll. No. – 24441.) On this occasion, Puneet Saini (III Sem, CSIT, Roll. No. – 25401) delivered a poem on drug abuse, to create awareness about the hazardous impacts of drug abuse on the society and to create a world without it. On 27th June, 2023 a short movie on drug abuse was shown to all participants.
Also, the “Say Yes to Life, No to Drugs” Pledge was taken by the faculties, staff and students on 28th June, 2023 from mygov.in. Students of various branches participated and celebrated International Day Against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking enthusiastically.
The event was conducted successfully with whole hearted participation and awareness about drug abuse.
