International Yoga Day Celebration

9th International Yoga Day was celebrated by students and teachers of Dronacharya College of Engineering, Gurugram on 21st June, 2023. The day was first proposed by Prime Minister Narendra Modi of India in his address to the United Nations General Assembly in 2014. The UN General Assembly adopted the proposal unanimously in December 2014, and the first International Yoga Day was celebrated in 2015. The theme for International Yoga Day 2023 is “Yoga for Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam”. 1st and 2nd year students along with 32 faculty members participated in the celebration.
NSS Units, Dronacharya College of Engineering, Gurugram organized "Yoga Session" on "International Yoga Day"under the guidance of Mr. Sachin, a professional certified yoga trainer on 21st June, 2023.
Session started with an introductory speech from the Principal Prof. (Dr.) Isha Malhotra. She briefed students about how yoga has been an ancient practice that combines physical health, mental health, postures, meditation and ethical principles to promote overall health of a person.
Yoga Teacher Sachin later told the students and faculty the importance of yoga and encouraged everyone to incorporate yoga in their day to day activities for the betterment of physical and mental wellbeing. Later he conducted a yoga session in which he explained certain important asanas that should be practiced daily for promoting better health. He ended the session with meditation to help calm the mind and release stress.
Event ended with the vote of thanks from Principal Prof. (Dr.) Isha Malhotra, and she encouraged all students to practice yogic asanas and meditation daily to promote good health and harmony.
