IIT-DELHI OPEN HOUSE 2015
For the eleventh successive year Indian Institute of Technology (IIT-Delhi) displayed an widespread collection of innovative research and product development projects on its annual open house, 2015. Scheduled on 18th April, 2015, in the premises of IIT Delhi Open House - a one day event committed to afford an insight into path-breaking research work, student projects and the abundant advanced facilities and laboratories available in IIT Delhi. Continuing the tradition of last ten years, this year too potentials to be a real treat to the eyes of the specialists by bestowing finest of the projects to technology enthusiasts, students and colleagues from other technical Institutes, Engineering Colleges, school children, industries and general public.
Tanupriya Choudhury, Assistant Professor from Computer Science & Engineering Department and Amit Bhatia, Assistant Professor from Applied Science Department along twenty five students of Dronacharya College of Engineering Gurgaon attended the event.
The event was started on 9:30 am in Dogra Hall(IIT-Delhi) in presence of 2500 audience(School students, Engineering Students both UG, PG, Ph. D, Industrialist, Entrepreneurs, Faculties, Teachers etc.) inaugurated by Prof. Narayan KarurProf. S.N.Singh followed by a award presentation ceremony of Class of '89 Innovation Awards, Research Scholars Day Awards which was bestowed by IIT-89 batch alumni’s and a special Science Engineering talk by Prof. P. V. Madhusudhan Rao on 3d Printing :Revolution Beyond Imagination. Prof. Rao is a Professor in the Dept. of Mechanical Engineering at IIT-Delhi. The talk was really enthusiastic and well-structured along with video presentation on 3D printing . After completion of this talk the lab visits ,exhibitions and demonstrations of projects was started.
Indoor Navigation to Location Specific Information (INALSI), Refreshable Braille Display, Braille Tutor, OnBoard, Tactile Graphics are some of the projects that was on display at IIT-Delhi's Open House 2015 event this last Saturday. Other key exhibits include a Monitoring teacher absenteeism, Gloves for visually impaired, Smart Stick, a thermometer that checks haemoglobin instantly, a cholesterol-checking device and other programmes which, if implemented, promise to bring transparency and accountability in governance.
The platform of Open House is venture to bring in education, research, innovation and competent designs into the monarchy of market and slake the desire of young minds to know more about technology. The annual event of the premier institute of the country, showcases innovative research projects undertaken by IIT students and faculty. The 11th edition of 'Open House' is planning to bank upon around 160 live demonstrations and many student projects as well as profitable and commercial designs.
Educative sessions such as "I am doing Engineering- What Next” delivered by Prof. Subrat Kar, ”Should I choose Engineering”- delivered by Prof. Subrat Kar and “Experience with cloud computing and the development of Baadal” delivered by CSE PG Students are also lined up at the event. The exhibition is intended for school students and college goers & especially for engineering students.
