GRIDTECH 2015
8th - 10th April 2015
Power Grid Corporation of India Ltd. (POWERGRID), a Navratna PSU in association with CBIP and IEEMA supported by Ministry of Power held the 5th International Exhibition and Conference GRIDTECH - 15 at Pragati Maidan, New Delhi from8th - 10th April 2015. Anmol Goyal , Ashish Sharma, Himanshu Kataria and Ankush Verma students of Semester VI,Electronics and Communication Engineering department of Dronacharya College of Engineering, Gurgaonshowcased their idea with Project titled : Intelligent [Real time] Traffic Routing at the Student’s Innovation Pavilion.
The exhibition brought together various national and international manufacturers, planners, policy makers, investors, consultants, research and educational institutions thus becoming the largest integrated platform where superior technologies and creative expertise in the transmission and distribution domain were displayed.
The 3-day exhibition and conference was inaugurated by Sh. Piyush Goyal, Minister of State with Independent Charge for Power, Coal and New & Renewable Energy. Sh.Goyal, at the inauguration of the exhibition, said, "The Prime Minister's vision for 24x7 quality power for all depends on the transmission and distribution sector to reach the bottom of the pyramid."
The concept implemented in the project Intelligent [Real time] Traffic Routing involved use of sensor network technology to sense presence of traffic near any circle or junction. Then it shall route the traffic availability or density in the desired direction. A microcontroller based routing algorithm programmed for excellent traffic management has been successfully implemented in the project. Integration of three special applications such as, ambulance and other emergency vehicle path clearance, variable power intensity for street lights according to environmental conditions and automatic message transmission and location identification to Control room in case of accidents, vehicle break down or illegal parking has also been implemented in the model.
The event witnessed the participation of over 110 exhibitors and 30 technical institutes exhibiting emerging technologies at one place. More than hundred papers on new technologies were presented in the field of transmission, distribution, sub-stations, energy efficiency and smart grid technologies.
The event concluded with the award ceremony which recognized the outstanding participation of the students. The projectIntelligent [Real time] Traffic Routing presented by the students of DCE, Gurgaon bagged the joint third prize worth Rs. 1 lakh along with MNIT Jaipur, ITM Gurgaon & Manav Rachna University.
