How to ace Behavioural / HR Interview rounds

IIC Cell, Dronacharya College of Engineering, Gurugram organized session on "How to ace Behavioural/HR Interview rounds?" by Ms. Shilpy Yadav (Employee Experience Lead-Program Management) on 2nd May, 2023.
The main objective of the session was to make final year students understand how to prepare for behavioral/ HR Interview.
Ms. Shilpy started the session by explaining, success in an interview depends upon the preparation. She explained, a behavioral interview is a popular interview technique which employers use to assess candidates based on their past behavior. For example, instead of asking questions like, “How would you react if you were under a lot of pressure at work?” they would instead ask situational questions like, “Describe a time you were under a lot of pressure at work. How did you react?”
She told in behavioral/HR Interview round the most important part is to be honest and your response must show your confidence. She said before going for an interview research the company, and review the job description and associate your knowledge, skills, abilities for the same.
She also gave some of tips to prepare for behavioral/ HR Interview like:
- Always read the job description carefully.
- Make a list of the top skills or qualifications it calls for.
- Write your stories down, including the situation, task, action and result.
- Keep in mind that your answer should only take about 1.5 to 2 minutes.
Towards the end, Ms. Shilpy answered the doubts of the students.It was a very knowledgeable session.
