Smart India Hackathon - 2023 Grand Finale
19th – 23rd December 2023
Smart India Hackathon 2023 is a nationwide initiative aimed at empowering students to tackle real-world issues and cultivate a culture of innovation and problem-solving. It fosters out-of-the-box thinking among engineering students across India. SIH 2023 featured a total of 239 problem statements, consisting of 58 hardware and 181 software challenges. The problem statements were categorized under State Government, Central Ministry, Industry personnel, and Student Innovation. The themes encompassed a wide range of areas, including Smart Automation, Fitness & Sports, Heritage & Culture, Med tech/Biotech/Health tech, Agriculture, Food tech & Rural Development, Smart Vehicles Transportation & Logistics, Robotics and Drones, Clean & Green Technology, Tourism, Renewable/Sustainable Energy, Blockchain & Cybersecurity, Smart Education, Disaster Management, Toys, and Miscellaneous sectors like Hospitality, Financial Services, Entertainment, and Retail.
Smart India Hackathon 2023 provided students with the unique opportunity to address challenges faced by Ministries, Departments, Industries, PSUs, and NGOs, with the aim of creating world-class solutions for top organizations, including industries.
Four Teams of Dronacharya College of Engineering, Gurugram were selected for the Grand Finale of SIH 2023 (Three from Software Edition and One from Hardware Edition).
Software Edition: 19th - 20th December, 2023
- Life Line Meds: Problem Statement was given by the Ministry of Mines. Students competed under the mentorship of Dr. Manoj Kumar (AIML Dept.) and Dr. Tamana Sehgal (CSE Dept.) at Aditya Engineering College, Andhra Pradesh.
- Vridhhi:Problem Statement was by given by AICTE, MIC - Student Innovation. Students competed under the mentorship of Dr. Ritu Pahwa (AIML Dept. ) and Dr. Shipra Arora (CSE Dept. ) at GMR Institute of Technology, Andhra Pradesh.
- Madrosa: Problem Statement was given by the Ministry of Home Affairs. Students competed under the mentorship of Dr. Ashima Mehta (CSE Dept.) and Ms. Renu (CSE Dept.) at Sri Venkateswara College of Engineering and Technology, Andhra Pradesh.
Hardware Edition: 19th – 23rd December, 2023
- Green Printing: Problem Statement was given by AICTE, MIC - Student Innovation. Students competed under the mentorship of Mrs. Neha Verma (ECE Dept.) and Mrs. Pooja Sharma (EEE Dept.) at Bhilai Institute of Technology, Durg, Chhattisgarh.
Two teams of Dronacharya College of Engineering, Gurugram: Life Line Meds (Software Edition) and Green Printing (Hardware Edition) won the Grand finale of Smart India Hackathon 2023.
Team Life-Line Meds from Dronacharya College of Engineering, Gurgaon, represented DCE in SIH 2023 Grand Finale - Senior Software Edition from 19th – 20th December, 2023 held at the Nodal Center, Aditya Engineering College, Andhra Pradesh. The Team was led by Mukul Dahiya (AIML-5th Sem, Roll No. 24286), Pooja Bansal (AIML-5th Sem, Roll No. 24251), Sahil Aggarwal ( AIML-5th Sem Roll No. 24266), Aryan Nara (3rd Sem, AIML, Roll No. 25211), Sourabh Singh Parmar (3rd Sem, CSE, Roll No. 25162) and Manas Kumar Thakur (1st Sem, AIML, Roll No. 25320.) The team competed for the finals under the guidance of their project mentors: Prof. Tamanna Sehgal (CSE Dept.) and Dr. Manoj Kumar (AIML Dept.), Associate Professor- CSE (AI&ML) Dept.) Team was declared as winner of Problem Statement PSID-1339 - Automation of drill core rock sample lithology logging.
Team GREEN PRINTING represented DCE at Grand finale of Smart India Hackathon 2023 - Hardware Edition from 19th to 23rd December, 2023, being held at the nodal center BIT-Durg, Chhattisgarh. The Team was led by Atul Saini (ECE-VII Sem, Roll No. 23477) and the team members were Aditya Gautam (ECE-VII Sem, Roll No. 23471), Hritik (EEE-VII Sem, Roll No. 23551), Aryan Rakheja (AIML-VII Sem, Roll No. 23197), BN Vernika (ECE - I Sem, Roll No. 26608) and Divyanshu Yadav (ECE-I Sem, Roll No. 26618). The team attended the finals under the guidance provided by their project mentors Mrs. Neha Verma (Assistant Professor- ECE Dept.) and Mrs. Pooja Sharma (Assistant Professor- EEE Dept.) On 23rd December, 2023, the Team was declared as winner of Student Innovation category with domain bucket of Renewable/Sustainable Energy (PS ID: SIH1472).
Both the teams not only won the title but also won Cash prize of Rs. 50,000 along with participation certificates and mementos.
