Invited Speaker at "Conference LNTOFC-23"
9th - 10th February 2023
Dr. J.R. Ansari (Associate Professor) of Dronacharya College of Engineering, Gurugram attended the Conference LNTOFC-23 at MLS College, Madhubani as an Invited Speaker on 9th and 10th February, 2023.
Dr. Ansari delivered the talk on Nanoparticles and Real Life Applications. He explained the synthesis and characterization route and its various applications in real life. He focused on how the surface area as well as the band gap increases with decreasing particle size. He described the entire concept by way of presentation slides and real time experiments. The applications of nanoparticles which he strongly focussed were:
- The technology is used for developing the desired characteristics in textile, such as unique surface structure, high tensile strength, water repellency, soft hand, fire retardancy, durability, antimicrobial properties, etc.
- Catalytic activity of phyto-synthesized AgNPs on degradation of dye was demonstrated by using methylene blue at room temperature.
- Due to the large surface area that nanoparticles provide, they possess the ability to be able to deliver large quantities of drugs or other medical cargoes.
- More efficient methods of solar energy storage, using printable solar cell. A liquid solar array that places a solar panel on the surface of a body of water and uses a plastic lens to concentrate incoming sunlight.
- The use of nanomaterials (NMs) by the cosmetic industry aims for long-lasting effects and increased stability. Currently, the most common use of NMs in cosmetics is in skincare products, and particularly, in sunscreens to act as UV filters.
- Researchers are developing a type of memory chip with a projected density of one terabyte of memory per square inch and this increases the density of memory chips. By reducing the size of transistors used in integrated circuits. Scaling limits for CMOS technology.
- The chemical items like nano fertilizers are greatly valued things. The advantages of the items like giving a good support for speedy growth of plants and crops.
- A wide variety of both nanoparticle coatings and nanostructured thin films have been applied to fiber optic devices that have been utilized during the development of novel sensor technologies. The application of silver nanoparticle coatings can improve the antibacterial behaviours associated with the enhanced device.
- Smart coatings take significant advantage of nanoparticles. While coatings using nano additives are not necessarily smart coatings, many smart coatings have very specific characteristics imparted by nanomaterials.
- There are three main toothpaste ingredients of nano-sized particles:
Hydroxyapatite, cavity filler, Silver, bacteria killer, Titanium dioxide, whitener
- Nano Pack is an EU-funded project engaged in the development of antimicrobial packaging solutions for perishable foods based on natural nanomaterials, enabling to prevent food-borne illness outbreaks and reduce food waste caused by early spoilage.
- The second-generation membranes also contain a second self-assembled polymer layer, thus broadening the range of applications for this technology. These new membranes can sustain high pressures and are capable of purifying water from poisonous heavy metals and organic molecules, showing for the first time that self-assembled “aqua materials” can be used for demanding industrial application.
- The contrast on an OLED is incredible. OLED TVs also product very wide viewing angles, so the image doesn’t diminish when you move to the side.
- Since the material is 1 million times thinner than a sheet of paper, it could easily be used to make smartphones much sleeker than they are today. It's flexible nature also makes it an attractive option for wearable computing devices. Reports have also suggested that it could even deliver internet 100 times faster on your smartphone.
- The main advantage of these batteries is due to their abundance, large storage capacity, wide negative redox potentials, operational safety, and environmentally friendly nature. Moreover, MXene materials have advantages such as high electrical conductivity, large surface area and tendency to accommodate a variety of cations e.g. Na+
At last, Dr. J.R. Ansari was presented with a memento.
