Workshop on Multi - Touch and Augmented Reality

Infizeal Technologies organized a two day workshop on “Multi - Touch and Augmented Reality” from 5th - 6th September 2015 at IIT - Hyderabad. Akshit Chauhan (15007) from Department of Computer Science & Engineeringof Dronacharya College Engineering, Gurgaon, delivered a session in the workshop. A total of 150 students from IIT – Hyderabad and other colleges attended the workshop. The idea behind the event was to spread the awareness about Augmented Reality.
Akshit Chauhan took the session on Six Sense Technology and augmented reality. Interaction with computer and devices , basic interfacing techniques like “CLI , GUI and NUI” with their applications , technologies used in creating Multi–touchpad like “FTIR”, “DI”, ”DSI”, ”LED-LP”, ”LLP”, making own multi-touch pad, playing music with paper using fiducial makers along with “Processing” and “Reactivison” were some of the topics that were covered on the first day of the workshop.
On the second day, Akshit Chauhan explained about kinect XBOX 360 and its internal structure. After that the students were trained as how they can convert their normal laptop / desktop to touchscreen using the concept of IR rays and a Nintendo’s wii mote along with a self-made IR pen. They experienced the motion sensing, voice recognition and gesture controlling characteristics of the kinect.
The participants from IIT, on behalf of all the attendees gave feedback to the organizers. Akshit Chauhan’s delivery was a huge success since the feedback of the students attending it was very good. The workshop proved to be an excellent and enriching experience for everyone.
