Workshop on iOS App Development Using Swift
22nd August 2026
Department of Applied Science (APS), Dronacharya College of Engineering, Gurugram,
organized a Workshop on iOS App Development using Swift on
22nd August 2026 at the iOS Lab for
first-year students. Conducted under the guidance of
Mr. Lochan, iOS Developer and Software Development Engineer at Practice Buzz,
the workshop provided students with an insightful introduction to mobile application development
and the fundamentals of Swift programming.
Designed to build a strong technical foundation at an early stage, the workshop introduced participants
to the iOS development ecosystem and the role of Swift in building modern mobile applications.
Key concepts covered included Swift syntax, variables, constants, data types, operators, expressions,
conditional statements, loops and functions, along with an overview of the basic workflow involved
in iOS application development.
An interactive and demonstration-based approach made the session engaging for the first-year learners.
Through practical examples and guided explanations, Mr. Lochan helped students understand
programming concepts in an application-oriented manner and demonstrated how fundamental coding constructs
can be applied while developing mobile applications.
The session also encouraged students to strengthen their logical thinking, programming fundamentals
and problem-solving abilities. Exposure to an industry professional gave participants valuable
insights into the practical relevance of programming skills and the importance of continuously learning
emerging technologies.
Participants gained a basic understanding of iOS application development and Swift programming,
while also developing an interest in exploring mobile app development and application-based projects.
The workshop served as an opportunity for students to connect their classroom learning with contemporary
technology and understand potential avenues for future technical growth.
With active participation and engaging technical demonstrations, the workshop proved to be a valuable
learning experience for the first-year students. The initiative by the APS Department
reflected its commitment to providing students with early exposure to industry-relevant technologies
and encouraging them to develop the skills and curiosity needed to become future-ready technology professionals.
