NSS Cell of Dronacharya College of Engineering (DCE), Gurugram provided an enriching platform for youth leadership and professional development as three NSS volunteers - Prince, Anuj, and Sahil from the Department of Mechanical Engineering - participated in a four-day 21st Century Skills Training Programme from 24 to 27 August 2026 at the Rajiv Gandhi National Institute of Youth Development (RGNIYD) Regional Centre, Chandigarh. The residential programme aimed to equip young volunteers with essential skills for the evolving professional, social and civic landscape.
Designed to bridge academic learning with contemporary requirements, the training featured engaging sessions on leadership and team building, communication, emotional intelligence, critical thinking, innovation, digital literacy and career preparedness. Participants explored collaborative problem-solving, project management, public speaking, interpersonal skills and creative approaches to addressing technical and socio-economic challenges.
Throughout the four-day programme, Prince, Anuj and Sahil (Mechanical Engineering) actively participated in interactive workshops, group discussions, team-building activities and skill-development exercises. Their enthusiasm, discipline and active engagement enabled them to gain practical insights while interacting with youth participants from diverse institutions, fostering valuable peer learning and exchange of ideas.
A strong focus on critical thinking and innovation encouraged the volunteers to approach challenges creatively, while sessions on digital literacy and career preparedness helped them understand the importance of adaptability and resilience in today’s rapidly changing professional environment. The experience also strengthened their confidence, leadership potential and problem-solving abilities.
Beyond individual growth, the training equipped the volunteers to contribute as peer educators at DCE, sharing their learnings with fellow students and encouraging greater participation in leadership, community service, innovation and socially responsible initiatives. Their exposure to different perspectives and best practices further strengthened their readiness to take up leadership roles within the campus and community.
Concluding successfully on 27 August 2026, the programme proved to be a meaningful learning experience for Prince, Anuj and Sahil, reinforcing DCE’s commitment to nurturing skilled, confident and socially conscious engineers. Their participation reflected the spirit of NSS and highlighted the importance of empowering young volunteers with the knowledge and competencies needed to contribute effectively to society and national development.
