Inspiring the Next Generation of Engineers: Motivational and Induction Sessions for First-Year Students
10th - 14th August 2026
Dronacharya College of Engineering organized a series of Motivational and Induction Sessions for First-Year Engineering Students from 10th to 14th August 2026 as part of the induction programme for newly admitted students. The sessions were conducted by Dr. Anil Sethi, Transformation Expert, Motivational Speaker and Life Coach, with the objective of providing students with an inspiring and positive beginning to their engineering journey and helping them understand the importance of developing the right mindset from the very beginning of their college life.
The sessions were conducted for different first-year sections, including CSE, CSE (AIML), CSIT, CSE (Cyber), ECE and ME/RA/ECS, with each session spanning two hours. The programme focused on important themes such as dreams, mindset, success, career planning, skill development, goal setting and personal growth. Dr. Sethi encouraged students to look beyond conventional definitions of academic success and identify their individual strengths, interests and aspirations. He motivated them to establish meaningful goals and develop a clear sense of direction for their academic and professional journey.
A key feature of the programme was its interactive and engaging approach. Rather than following a conventional lecture format, Dr.Sethi involved students through questions, discussions, activities and reflective exercises. Students were encouraged to express their thoughts, share their perspectives and reflect on their own experiences and ambitions. This interactive environment enabled the newly admitted students to participate enthusiastically and develop greater confidence in communicating their ideas.
Dr.Sethi also emphasized that technical knowledge alone is not sufficient for professional success and highlighted the importance of developing complementary skills and personal qualities. Students were encouraged to strengthen their communication, confidence, discipline, teamwork, adaptability, resilience and problem-solving abilities. He motivated them to make effective use of their college years by participating in academic and co-curricular activities, exploring new opportunities, acquiring relevant skills and continuously learning beyond the prescribed curriculum.
The sessions also encouraged students to take ownership of their personal and professional development from the beginning of their engineering education. Through discussions on career aspirations and goal setting, students were motivated to develop a growth-oriented mindset, remain open to new experiences and approach challenges as opportunities for learning and improvement.
The five-day programme provided the first-year students with an energizing and meaningful start to their college journey. The sessions helped create awareness about the importance of mindset, skills, goal setting and personal responsibility while motivating students to approach their engineering education with confidence, clarity and a positive outlook.
