Bridging Classroom Learning with Aviation Technology: ECE Students Visit Airports Authority of India
22nd August 2026
The Department of Electronics and Communication Engineering (ECE), Dronacharya College of Engineering organized an industrial visit to the Airports Authority of India (AAI), New Delhi, to provide students with practical exposure to the advanced electronic and communication systems involved in airport and air traffic management operations. The visit was aimed at bridging the gap between classroom learning and real-world industrial applications in the field of Electronics and Communication Engineering.
During the visit, students were introduced to the functioning of various communication, navigation and surveillance systems used in aviation. The technical sessions provided valuable insights into the significance of air-ground communication, navigation aids, radar and surveillance systems, radio communication and other electronic infrastructure supporting airport operations. Students gained an understanding of how these interconnected systems contribute to the safe, reliable and efficient management of air traffic.
The students also learned about the role of modern communication technologies in supporting aviation operations and were introduced to the importance of precision, reliability and continuous monitoring in critical communication and surveillance systems. The exposure helped them relate concepts studied in subjects such as communication systems, electronics, signal processing and wireless technologies with their practical applications in the aviation sector.
An interactive session with the technical personnel at AAI further enriched the learning experience. Students had the opportunity to gain insights into the professional responsibilities associated with airport communication and technical operations, operational challenges, safety requirements and the technological advancements shaping the aviation industry. Their interaction also encouraged them to explore the diverse career opportunities available to Electronics and Communication Engineering professionals in the aviation and allied sectors.
The industrial visit provided students with valuable practical knowledge, professional exposure and industry-oriented learning. It enhanced their understanding of the application of electronic and communication technologies in a safety-critical environment and emphasized the importance of technical competence, teamwork, precision and responsibility in professional practice.
The visit concluded on an enriching note and successfully contributed to the technical knowledge, industry awareness and overall professional development of the students. The Department of Electronics and Communication Engineering appreciates the support and guidance extended by the officials of the Airports Authority of India and remains committed to providing students with meaningful industry exposure through such academic and experiential learning initiatives.
