SPOC Felicitation Workshop of NPTEL

Dr. Manoj Kumar, SPOC of the NPTEL Local Chapter at Dronacharya College of Engineering, Gurugram, attended the one-day SPOC Felicitation Workshop of NPTEL held at IIT Kanpur on 17th January 2026. The workshop was organized to recognize the contributions of SPOCs from the North Zone and to deliberate on the expanding role of NPTEL in strengthening digital and blended learning in higher education.
The workshop was inaugurated by Prof. Dr. Satyaki Roy, IIT Kanpur, along with Prof. Dr. (Mrs.) Angana Sen Gupta, Local Chapter Coordinator, IIT Kanpur, and Ms. Kamala from IIT Madras. The dignitaries warmly welcomed all the participating SPOCs. In his inaugural address, Prof. Dr. Satyaki Roy highlighted that NPTEL has completed 22 years since the launch of its first online course and shared key milestones and success stories of the platform.
Prof. Dr. Satyaki Roy emphasized the growing significance of digital learning in the contemporary education ecosystem and highlighted the pivotal role of SPOCs as a vital link between NPTEL and educational institutions. Senior faculty members and NPTEL coordinators also addressed the gathering, sharing their experiences and outlining NPTEL’s vision of aligning online education initiatives with the objectives of the National Education Policy (NEP).
A detailed presentation by Prof. Dr. Satyaki Roy showcased recent developments and new initiatives on the NPTEL platform. These included the introduction of domain-specific courses in Sports Science, a new internship scheme for NPTEL course toppers at IITs under respective course coordinators, the success of the GATE portal providing free preparation resources, the launch of self-paced courses through NPTEL+, and comprehensive semester-wise analytical performance reports.
Following the presentation, an interactive discussion session was held with SPOCs from various institutions on credit transfer policies adopted by their respective universities. Participants shared their institutional practices, challenges faced in implementing credit transfers, and possible strategies for improving the effective utilization of NPTEL credits.
The felicitation ceremony was a major highlight of the workshop, during which certificates were awarded to top-performing Local Chapters and SPOCs by Prof. Dr. Satyaki Roy and Prof. Dr. (Mrs.) Angana Sen Gupta. It was a moment of pride for Dronacharya College of Engineering, Gurugram, as the institution received the Certificate of Active – Prospects in NPTEL from IIT Kanpur in recognition of its consistent engagement and performance. The workshop concluded with the valedictory session followed by the rendition of the National Anthem, leaving participants motivated and inspired to further strengthen NPTEL initiatives at their institutions.
