Blood Donation Camp

NSS Unit, Dronacharya College of Engineering, Gurugram organized “Blood Donation Camp” in collaboration with Indian Red Cross Society and Civil Hospital Sector 10, Gurgaon on 13th October, 2023. The Camp was inaugurated by Prof. (Dr.) Isha Malhotra (Principal, DCE), Dr. Hansraj Yadav (Registrar, DCE) & Dr. Ashok Kumar (NSS Programme Officer.) During the short inaugural function Dr. Kamal, Dr. Sulokshna and other eight members were welcomed. Dr. Kamal expressed his gratitude to the NSS Unit of the institute for its continuous endeavor in this regard. He stressed on the growing need of blood donation and commended the efforts of young volunteers for their noble act.
India faces a blood shortage of 3 million units every year. The problem can be addressed if an additional two percent of Indians donate blood, as told by the health experts. Country need 12 million units of blood every year, but just about nine million units are being donated. By way of this noble gesture, Dronacharya College of Engineering brought a ray of hope and contributed towards the serious problem of acute shortage of Blood. DCE has been religiously organizing blood donation camps every year and students and the faculty members came forward voluntarily to donate blood.
183 Donors donated Blood during the camp which included students and faculty members. Initially, the students were required to register themselves by filling the form. Thereafter all the students were weighted followed by blood test. The blood donors were given Banana, Biscuits and Frooti after donating the blood in order to reenergize themselves. The blood donors were provided with Certificate of Appreciation.
NSS Volunteers also conducted a poster competition in the campus through which the misconceptions related to blood donation and the benefits of blood donation were also made aware to everyone.
Overall, Blood Donation Camp was a huge success.
