WORKSHOP ON ALL INDIA SURVEY ON HIGHER EDUCATION (AISHE)
One day Workshop on All India Survey on higher education (AISHE) was organized in the RK Auditorium of Maharishi Dayanand University, Rohtak on 20th November 2015. Prof. (Dr.) Jitender Kumar, IQAC Coordinator ofDronacharya College of Engineering, Gurgaon attended this workshop. The workshop was conducted by the AISHE cell ofMDU Rohtak and the principals / IQAC / AISHE coordinators of all colleges affiliated to M.D. University Rohtak. More than400 participants from various colleges participated in the workshop. The purpose of the workshop was to know the difficulties faced by the participants in filling the survey and to make them aware about the AISHE’s benefits & importance.
Prof. Sunita Malhotra (Dean Academic Affairs – MDU Rohtak), Mr. B. N. Tiwari (Deputy Director – Higher Education, MHRD, New Delhi), Prof. Gulshan Taneja (IQAC Coordinator- MDU Rohtak), Mr. Arun Joshi (Deputy Director- Cadet Crops, Office of Director General of Higher Education, Haryana), Prof. Sewa Singh Dahiya (Dean College Affairs – MDU Rohtak),Mr. A. K. Aggarwal (Coordinator AISHE – NIC, New Delhi) and Registrar of MDU Rohtak Mr. Jitender Bhardwaj graced the stage along with Prof. Sumit Gill (Nodal officer of AISHE of MDU Rohtak).
Prof. Gulshan Taneja delivered the welcome address and welcomed all the dignitaries and participants in the workshop. He said as MDU Rohtak is NAAC – ‘A’ grade university so the expectations and responsibilities are higher. He also informed the audience that this survey was started in 2010-11 and MDU has participated quite actively in this.
His welcome address was followed by the address of Nodal Officer of AISHE, MDU University Rohtak Prof. Sumit Gill. In his address he spoke primarily about three difficulties faced by MDU Rohtak: Enrollment of all colleges in AISHE, Infrastructure deficiency at various colleges and Lagging in filling the survey by many institutes. He said 538 colleges has 38 different departments are affiliated to MDU Rohtak. He said out of 538 colleges 384 have filled the survey in last year. He said all the information of these colleges is available at www.knowyourcollege-gov.in .
Prof. Sunita Malhotra delivered the Presidential Address and asked all the colleges to upload the data in time as this is required by the MHRD to make various beneficial plans. She also urged the colleges to participate enthusiastically in Skill Development Program of NSDC (Which is offering 17 different courses).
Mr. Arun Joshi (Deputy Director, Cadet Corps, Office of DGHE, Haryana) briefed about the various policies of Govt. of India like SSA, RMSA, RUSA etc. He informed that a new education policy for Haryana will soon be launched. He said that about 63% colleges of Haryana has uploaded the data for 2013-14 and informed the audience that less filled data means less grants for the state from Govt. of India. He also said that the proceedings of today’s meeting will be shared with Haryana Govt. He also informed that around 1100 institutes from Haryana has filled the survey from Haryana including 180 Engineering Colleges, 130 Polytechnic colleges & 50 Nursing colleges.
His address was followed by the address of Mr. B. N. Tiwari (Deputy Director – Higher Education, MHRD, and New Delhi). He told the participants that a new user friendly website of AISHE has been launched 03 days back. He also informed that as per the UGC amendments, any university whose colleges are not uploading the data will not receive the grants from Center Government. Being NAAC-A grade university, MDU Rohtak is eligible for a grant of 50 Crore Rupees. He said from now onwards 08 weeks time will be given to the colleges to fill the survey. He said this data helps MHRD to know the Gross Enrollment Ratio and shared the GER of India (22.7%) and Haryana (28.8%) with the audience.
Last address of the day was given by Mr. A. K. Aggarwal (Coordinator- AISHE- NIC, New Delhi). He discussed about the new website of AISHE. He also informed that this website has a feature of Data user & one can get the unit level data from this website. He also showed the audio tutorials available on the website for helping the user in filling the data. He also informed that a new Mobile Application for AISHE is also coming very shortly. He took the questions from the participants related with filling the data on AISHE.
Vote of thanks for the event was given by the newly appointed Registrar of MDU Rohtak Mr. Jitender Bhardwaj and he thanked all the delegates and participants for attending the event. He also ensured the delegates from Govt. of India andGovt. of Haryana that MDU Rohtak will take all possible steps to complete the data in time.
