23rd National Children’s Science Congress - A program of National Council for Science & Technology Communication, Department of Science and Technology, Government of India was organized at D.A.V. Multipurpose Public School Sonipat (Haryana) on 28th - 29th November 2015. The focal theme for NCSC - 2015 was “Understanding Weather and Climate”.
The event was inaugurated by Shri. Anuj Sinha, Chairman, (NCSTC, DST, GOI). In his inaugural address he stressed on the active involvement of child scientists to solve the problems of their locality by scientific enquiry and research through systematic observation and analysis. He emphasized on the need of science popularization in society by infusing scientific temper in child scientists. In this event eighty six teams of Child Scientists from Haryana state presented their projects on above said focal theme and related sub-themes.
Dr. R.C.Sharma Professor, Dronacharya college of Engineering Gurgaon was invited as Evaluator/Judge in order to evaluate the projects presented by the child Scientists. He was awarded Certificate of Appreciation. Sixteen projects were selected for the awards. The projects; Shakora Panel, A Cool Solution to Thermal Problems, Utilization of thermal power plant ash for decorative pieces, Comparative study of Modern and Traditional Agriculture and low cost insecticides for plant growths were appreciated by the audience. The projects presented were highly innovative and knowledge based. A video motion picture of sun, moon and planets presented by Sh. Deepak Sharma, Chief Editor, Bilingual Science Magazine and Planetarium show have been the centre of attraction.
In the concluding session, Dr. V.K.Mittal, Principal D.A.V. Multipurpose Public School Sonipat gave away the prizes and Medals to selected child scientists. The program was concluded by Dr. M.S. Narwal, President Haryana Vigyan Manch. He congratulated the child scientists for their contribution in popularization of science in society and research through systematic observation and analysis.
