Orientation Programme (Batch 2023 - 2027)

Dronacharya College of Engineering, Gurugram, extended a warm and enlightening welcome to the 1st Year B.Tech students of Batch 2023-2027. The five-day Orientation Program, conducted from 21st August, 2023, to 25th August, 2023, was meticulously designed to provide students with a comprehensive understanding of the college, its core values, and the transformative journey they were about to embark upon.
The faculty coordinators of the program were Prof. Megha Goel (APS Department) and Dr. Vimla Yadav (APS Department). The Chief Guest of the 5 day programme was Mr. Anurag Upadhyay, Program Manager at Accenture (RPA and AI Consulting/Strategy.) Guest of Honour was Dr. Anil Kumar Goswami (Ex-Senior Scientist/Additional Director, DRDO, Ministry of Defence, Government of India.) The Special Invitee of the programme was Capt. Manjula Katoch (Retd), Ex-Army Officer, and Certified Soft Skills Trainer.
Day 1 – 21st August, 2023:
The inaugural day of the Orientation Program was meticulously crafted to offer students an immersive introduction to their academic journey while fostering camaraderie among their peers.
Tilak Ceremony and Inauguration: The day commenced with a solemn assembly of students at the venue, marked by a traditional tilak ceremony, a symbol of auspicious beginnings. The official inauguration followed, setting the tone for the entire program.
Panchdeep Lighting and Ma Sarasvati Vandana: To invoke blessings and cultivate a serene atmosphere, a panchdeep lighting ceremony symbolizing the five elements and a heartfelt Ma Sarasvati Vandana, dedicated to the Goddess of Knowledge, were performed. These rituals underscored the significance of wisdom, knowledge, and spirituality in the educational journey.
Words of Wisdom: Prof. (Dr.) Isha Malhotra (Principal, DCE) shared insightful words of wisdom, emphasizing the importance of dedication, perseverance, and a holistic approach towards education. Her words served as an inspiring preamble to the academic journey ahead.
Keynote Address by Chief Guest and Guest of Honour: The Chief Guest, Mr. Anurag Upadhyay, captivated the audience with an enlightening talk on "How to become corporate ready from day 1" His profound insights into the world of technology and innovation was a great help to the students. Guest of Honour Dr. Anil Kumar Goswami talked on the importance of life skills and consistency.
Cultural Dance performances, Skit and Online Quiz: To engage students in a fun and informative manner, skit performance and traditional dances were staged. The skit covered various facets of college life, rules, and regulations, making the transition from school to college smoother and more enjoyable. An online quiz followed, providing an interactive platform for students to learn more about college life, its expectations, and how they could contribute to their own growth and development.
Souvenir Distribution: The day concluded with a gesture of appreciation, as students received souvenirs as mementos of their first day at college. These souvenirs were symbols of their commitment to the institution and marked the beginning of their lifelong connection with the college, creating a sense of belongingness and pride.
Days 2, 3 & 4- 22nd August -24th August, 2023:
The subsequent three days were dedicated to enriching experiences, interactive sessions, and skill-building activities, all aimed at shaping well-rounded individuals prepared for the challenges ahead.
Explorer Groups: Recognizing the need for personalized engagement, students were divided into two groups, Explorer Group 1 (EG1) and Explorer Group 2 (EG2), ensuring a tailored learning experience that catered to their unique needs and aspirations.
Academic Guidance and Alumni Interaction: The program featured sessions that included academic guidance provided by the Heads of Departments and invaluable interactions with alumni. Distinguished alumni from various batches shared their experiences and insights, enlightening students about life beyond academics and the transformative journey that lies ahead.
Technical and Skill-Building Activities: The program featured a diverse range of technical discussions, departmental club activities, and skill-building sessions. These activities allowed students to explore their interests and potential fully. Activities like "Know Your Roots," "Eternal," "Sparkle Your Trace," and "Net_Ram" fostered a sense of learning, teamwork, and innovation.
Universal Human Values and Project Showcase: Students were introduced to the profound significance of Universal Human Values and had the opportunity to showcase their projects. These interactions served as catalysts for creativity and innovation, encouraging students to think critically and contribute meaningfully to society.
Expert Talks: Eminent professors from IIT Delhi graced the occasion with their expertise, expanding students' horizons by exposing them to cutting-edge research and the latest trends in technology and engineering.
Gaming Sessions: The program also featured gaming sessions that emphasized the importance of innovation, teamwork, and problem-solving. These interactive activities reinforced the idea that engineering is not just about technical knowledge but also about practical application and collaboration.
Day 5 - 25th August, 2023:
The concluding day was a celebration of diversity, talent, and physical prowess, adding a fun and energetic dimension to the Orientation Program.
Cultural Extravaganza - "Happy Trails": The day began with a cultural extravaganza titled "Happy Trails," where students from diverse backgrounds showcased their talents. The program included captivating dance performances, melodious music, gripping drama, and captivating art exhibitions. This cultural mosaic celebrated the richness and diversity of talent within the college community, reinforcing the idea that art and culture are integral aspects of holistic education.
Sports Competitions: An exciting sports competition unfolded on the college campus grounds, promoting physical fitness, sportsmanship, and teamwork among students. The sports competitions included events like cricket, football, athletics, and more. These competitions allowed students to showcase their physical prowess, build camaraderie, and imbibe the values of fair play and teamwork.
The five-day Orientation Program for Batch 2023-2027 at Dronacharya College of Engineering, Gurugram was an exceptional and comprehensive initiation into the academic and social fabric of the institution. It aimed not only to prepare students academically but also to nurture their values, skills, and aspirations for a successful and fulfilling journey ahead.
