One Day Workshop on "Android Application Development"

Dronacharya College of Engineering, Gurugram in association with Coding Block organized one day workshop on "Android Application Development" on 22nd October 2018. 60 Students from CSE, IT and ECS participated in the workshop. The workshop was piloted by Mr. Piyush Ajmani, (mentor at Coding Blocks).
Mr. Ajmani started the workshop by explaining the basics of android, and Android studio, a platform for the application development. He explained students, android allows user to provide different resources for different devices, such as creating different layouts for different screen sizes and determining which layout to use, based on the current device's screen size. In the initial phase of the workshop, students build their own first sample android application.
The speaker also explained how to introduce various features in the app. During, the workshop, various useful aspects such as improving app's performance, and adding numerous advanced features like custom views, animations, and location awareness, were taught to the students on Android Studio. He also explained , app components are the essential building blocks of an android app and each such component is an entry point through which the system or a user can enter app. Various components, such as activities, services, broadcast receivers, and content providers were also discussed during the workshop. He also explained ways to manifest a file with identification of user permissions the app requires, such as Internet access or read access to the user's contacts, along with declaring app requirements and components.
In the end, the speaker discussed the scope and career options in the field of android development.
The workshop was informative, interactive and proved to be fruitful, as students actively prompted in application development.
