Paper Presentation in National seminar on
“Stochastic Processes and Application”
11th November, 2017
Dr. Jyoti Anand (Assistant Professor APS Department), Dronacharya College of Engineering, Gurgaon attended one day national seminar on the topic “Stochastic Processes and Applications” conducted by department of statistics, M.D. University, Rohtak on 11th November 2017.
The seminar was inaugurated by Prof. Raj Kumar, Dean Students’ Welfare, M.D. University and Prof. Bhup Singh Gulia, Head Department of Visual Arts was the guest of Honor, M.D. University, Rohtak. Prof. Raj Kumar highlighted the use of Stochastic processes in financial markets, business and predict the future behavior of financial markets where uncertainty. Prof. Bhup Singh Gulia, highlighted the correlated the need of Statistics with the geometrical aspects of fine Arts and thus collaborative research is the need of hours. Organizer of the seminar Prof. S.C. Malik gave a welcome address to all participants, invited speakers and guests. He also highlighted the importance of the theme of seminar.
After inauguration the session started with the discussion on the topic “Markov Chains and their Applications” by Prof. Aquil Ahmed from Aligarh Muslim University, Aligarh. He said today we are able to predict weather conditions with good precision due to Stochastic Model and use of Statistical Software. Next Lecture was on the topic “Stochastic Programming Modelling and its Application” by Dr. Irfan Ali from Aligarh Muslim University, Aligarh. He highlighted the importance of Stochastic Processes through Markov Chains and Programming with Optimization Techniques.
Later Prof. B.K Hooda from Haryana Agriculture University, Hisar described the need of stochastic processes particularly in the situations where uncertainty exists and, sometimes deterministic models are not suitable and therefore, probabilistic models can be used as a better solution of the problems. After the lecture the research paper were presented by the participants. 70 participants presented their paper in the seminar. Dr. Jyoti Anand also presented her paper entitled “Reliability Measures Of A Standby System Under Arbitrary Distribution With Priority To Preventive Maintenance(PM) Over Repair And Server Failure During Repair” in which two identical unit standby system with the concept of PM of the unit, server failure and priority to PM over repair. The idea of priority to preventive maintenance over repair is useful in making the system more effective and profitable to use.
Prof. Priti Gupta, Head and Convener of the seminar gave a vote of thank to all participants, invited speakers and University for helping the Department financially. Overall the seminar was very interactive as participants also shared their views about the importance and uses of the subject of Statistics.
