MOCK PLACEMENT PREPARATORY SESSION
The Department of Electronics & Communication Engineering of Dronacharya College of Engineering, Gurgaonorganized a Mock Placement Preparatory Session for the Final Year students, on 20th August 2016.
The main objective of the session being conducted was:
1. To make students aware of the corporate face and how to tackle it.
2. All trivial things students must focus on during facing interviews.
3. Resume building since it reflects the overall impression of a student’s academic achievements.
4. Discussion on topics important for students during interview.
The preparatory sessions were conducted by alumni of the college along with faculty placement coordinators Mr. Surinder Dhaka and Mrs. Sanghamitra V. Arora. The alumni of the college were as follows:
1. Mr. Vijit Mangla from AON.
2. Ms. Vibuti Krishnan from AON
3. Mr. Himanshu Kataria from Nucleus Software
4. Ms. Sneh Pawar from ChannelPlay
In the first session the students were tested on the basis Aptitude Test comprising of all the essential sections. Total 25 questions were given in the test with questions from core electronics as well as software.
In the second session Group discussions were conducted on current topics in groups of six students each. The knowledge of the students on technical aspects as well as current affairs was analysed by alumni. On the spot feedback and corrective inputs were given to the students.
In the third session the students were provided an opportunity to face Technical and HR interviews on individual basis. They went through three separate panels and were graded panel wise. Meanwhile, the alumni briefed the students on the recent trends of resume writing and expectations of the industry. They also highlighted the job scenario in the market for the ECE students in their pursuit for a correct job profile.
The valuable tips, given by them, were highly appreciated by the students. Since the alumni came from various sections of the industry, their inputs were very relevant and motivating for the students.
The Mock placement preparatory session proved to be a source of motivation for the students. It was an eye opener for the freshers as they came face to face with the real corporate world. They were inspired to work on improving their competency levels.
